    Does Abstaining - reduce tolerance

Hi Guys, question for the chaps and chapesses on Mods. If you say have a month off, then go to drinking moderately, (whatever that is), then are the effects of smaller amounts of alcohol greater. ie. if say you had 2 months off, then drank 2 bottles of wine or whatever your poison was when you were in full swing, would you be on the floor.

yes you would. and the hangover is worse.
I was off for one month and went to visit a friend who I used to drink with all the time. wasn't paying attention, and after 3 glasses I had to go home to bed. woke up feeling awful awful.

My friend was surprised, because I used to be able to drink six or more glasses and still remain coherent.

Personally my tolerance drops if I have abstained for a while. I would assume that most people's does. If I have been AF for 30 days or more two glasses of wine will knock me on my butt. However if I have been drinking steadily I can handle 4 or 5 before I feel tipsy.

I agree, abstinence makes tolerance lower.

Unfortunately, it does not take very long at all to redevelop the tolerance and the tendency is to go even futher than you were before.

This is why they say alcoholism is a progessive disease.
