It's very chilly here! Looks like winter is on its way, I'm more of a winter person than a summer person anyway.

Cowgal, I certainly hope you feel better soon, grab yourself some warm beverage and vitamins.

St. Jude - I hope everything turns out ok, give us an update when you have a chance, please.

Ducky - I'm going to experiment in the kitchen tonight by making some spiced pumpkin soup. I'll have to let you know how it turns out!

Hi Cowgal, hope you are feeling better. Sammys, hope your plumbing got fixed.

Lorelei, let me know how the soup turns out. I have never made that.

Last night I made a rub for short ribs that took me 2 hours. They are going to marinate for at least a day before I cook them. I am also making latkes, chicken roasted with rosemary and lemon, kugel, etc. I am making myself hungry thinking about it!

Not doing as well on mods as I want so I need to get serious with that. I am tired of feeling tired, ya know?

Ducky, I would never ever attempt that in my kitchen! And I know all about being tired of feeling tired.

I am about to start ordering presents over the internet in an attempt to whidle(sp?) down my Christmas list. My children have lost their minds on what they want for Christmas. My six year old has several robots on his list that range in price from $100-$300. I told him wat the prices were and that they are extremely exspensive. He replied that it is a good thing that Santa is bringing it so I don't have to pay for it! My 8 year old slipped me a note to Santa that I was not allowed to read that asked Santa for another dog, a reindeer and a dragon!! My 4 year old daughter simply wants to meet Hannah Montana. I better get to work!

Life is a little tough here in NYC. the winter blues are here, lorelei how does someone become a winter person?
I feel groggy and unmotivated, just want to stay in bed and read, but that is not possible.
and wine makes it worse, so I am staying AF, until this passes.

I don't know that one becomes a winter person.....I just am. I love crisp chilly mornings. I love the smell of the leaves when they fall. I love snow (God I love snow). The chill in the air just makes me feel alive!!

I feel stifled in summer. The humidity in the air is oppressive and I always feel like I'm melting.

Hi Everybody! We finally have electicity back here! It went out Sunday night @ work. I served my last few tables in the dark with a flashlight.
Later on my drive home, I got almost halfway up river and came around a corner to find a HUGE tree(the trunk was probably over 2 feet across) down blocking both lanes of the road!
I had to turn around & go back main highway & go a whole different way to get home. Thankfully the road was clear(sort of) that way. There was still a lot of debris from all of the wind.
We've had winds of 110 mph gusting off & on since Sunday! Lots of trees & powerlines down all over. It's finally calmed down this morning.
Had power in town last night but not @ home, till later.
It's nice to be back on the puter! I've missed ya guys!:h
I felt so far away & alone! Maybe that's why I was so grumpy yesterday! Had no power @ home... got ready for work in the semi dark... and had to drive to town in the storm to serve food...I wasn't in the mood for it!
Glad to be back.
Glad I don't work outside too! My God it's been brutal!

Thanfully all we lost @ home was our fence. We have a generator, so we've had heat & movies!
In town people have lost their roofs, sheds, sections of buidings...full on hurricane.

Cindy, it was dark, & on wet pavement. I came around a corner, all of a sudden there's nothing but GREEN! Believe me I hit the brakes & skidded pretty good! I came really close to going off of the road!
Even laying down on it's side this tree was HUGE!

Judy I saw all the flooding and stuff what a mess. I don't blame you for the mood and thank goodness you have a generator. Lushy a flooded basement is nothing but a small nightmare and yes all that stuff will mold and you could get sick from it.

So I promised myself that I wouldn't drink today - why is it now nearing the end of the work day and I am arguing with myself about drinking? I am unable to moderate at the moment so I am abstaining but every minute or so a reason to go to the bar shows up in my head. "I'll just have a soda", "I'll just have one.", "I just want to say hi to people" (What people? The people I am truy friends with I can call up on the phone and say Hi too. I think it sucks that I have to struggle with this arguement more than one time a week. I'll win today, but I want to win the arguement all the time. I'm just annoyed at the whole damn thing.

So glad to hear you are all safe and sound as well. I didnt even hear about this until this afternoon on the news and immediately thought of you and Lushy.... is she okay? I havent been on much at all today, so I havent checked to see if she's posted today. I remember her saying it had snowed and then turned to rain.

I am not a winter person per say, but I definitely like a good snow and some pretty leaves to welcome the change of seasons! Its been hard decorating the Christmas tree in shorts with the AC on. Argggh. It actually got down into the upper 40's last night with a high of 68 today.... C'mon Cowgal... its not THAT cold here in FL!!! Floridians think anything below 70 degrees is cold I think... I'm starting to get indoctrinated!
