Moderating on Thursday the 15th of May

Well that morning craving got the best of me. I actualy broke into the liquor cabinet and had a woodford and diet pepsi while I dried my hair this morning. Only had one (although I measure like a, well, you know). I feel guilty, but mostly I feel inquisitive. What is going on. I am taking my full allotment of pills. Hypno CD on full blast. Why the sudden surge of morning cravings. Very interesting. Could the be the added stress of a very busy May.

Yes Croft, Stress and a Busy schedule set me off too.... I hate it! What are we to do!

Well first, recognize that it is stress and schedule and set some down time in between and then if you are like me just go with the flow and try not to over do it. Sorry I am not much help. This is my very busy and stressful time also, next week...lordy, look out!

Hang in there and enjoy your daughters graduation.... Just remember you are in training for the climb!!!

Best Wishes and Hugs to you,
    Bambi

      Croft, what is a woodford?

Not sure what to say about the morning cravings. Maybe it is the stress of too much to do. I hope you will be able to put them to bay as you have worked so hard and achieved so much in a short time.

      Hi Bambi!

      Still sad thinking about Bear...

I really hate to tell you, but

          Woodford Reserve. Very Excellent Whisky!
          Woodford Reserve

The irony for me is that I was just in kentucky - but in a dry county. Some of the best whisky comes from Kentucky, but there are many dry counties there as well.

I am sure your training regimen will keep you on track.

tlrgs, you are such a guy! They are all fun (special) things...but.....women have to make them all perfect, hence the stress!

Croft--did you eat breakfast?? I've learned my "cravings" are usually something else. If I eat or drink (a diet pop or something) it goes away.

Also what's up with the nasty pm's? Please don't let that bother you or keep you away from here (and us).

                    thoughts on "intrusive thoughts"

I talked to my counselor today about these intrusive thoughts. Her perspective: they just happen: and they are VERY INTENSE and require vigilance, and can catch you off guard, and the timing of their arrival cannot be predicted. (This seems in keeping with what I've read on the ABS threads. Folks who've been been been AF for three, six, nine months will suddenly have a spell of strong drinking thoughts and urges.)

Her advice: pay attention and take precautions; do not treat these thoughts lightly, as they are a very real return of a voice that would like you to return to old ways. Think of this as a little voice on your shoulder whispering bad advice into your ear. BUT have confidence in your newly established habits. You have the ability to flick away this "old voice" because you have successfully established new habits that have opened up a new life that brings you greater happiness and fulfillment. So continue confidently in your new ways, acknowledging this "intrusive thought", not giving the thoughts much more than an acknowledgment or due, but recognizing its presence, and your successful rejection of the suggestion to return to old ways.

So I don't know if that is helpful to anyone, but I know I'd gone down the path of looking for triggers for why I might have had these intrusive thoughts . . . knowing that "shit happens" instead of trying to figure out "why" was helpful to me..

                    Best to all...

Ask For Help - this is good insight. Knowing that shit happens instead of trying to figure out why.

I am looking forward to the challenge that tomorrow will bring. I am armed and ready. I have this advice and some breakfast on hand! No frickin AL monster is going to get me now! I am blow-drying my hair AF tomorrow!
