modding or not
i have to say ive never modded b4 ,ninterestin tho may it be,even the mod forum, monthly abstainers or even long term people,i guess as a X large volume drinker,i couldnt figure even this site out, beleive it or not ,different strokes for different folks, its not hard to stop for some ,and i am one,but i have a prob staying stopped, modding as you read in ALL forums for som is no option so why disrupt what is going well for others,if we have nothing nc to say dont say it,modding like stopping is an art , ,so if jumping from one forum to the next lets all be apprecitive to the fact of what our peers are trying to accomplish,i do hope this does not offend anyone but be aware of others feelings gycoTags: None

Hi Gyco,
I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you suggesting that modders stick to this forum only? Of course it is not appropriate to inject modding into an abstinence forum, but "Just starting out" and "General Discussion" are open, as far as I know, to everyone. I may have totally misread your post, so enlighten me. I think everyone recognizes it's not for everyone. We all have our drinking problems and unique issues, but sharing is what brings us together. I'm sure I'm not reading your post correctly . . .

Gyco
Correct me if I am wrong but arent you posting about the difficulties with modding in a mod thread. That is hardly very helpful to modders now is it? If your point is that modders should not post on AF threads then if you have a look around you will see it has been very well documented recently that modders are careful not to do that. Seems to me to be the other way around with people continually undermining the modders as if to prove that it cant be done. So yes right back at you buddy if you cant say anything helpful then dont bother saying anything at all.

modding or not
Gyco,
This post is hard to understand as you don't give enough reference to what you're talking about. Sounds like a modder posted on an AF site? I would tend to think modders don't and wouldn't do that but I guess it's possible due to this post.
Let's give an analogy. An extremely obese person sometimes can't understand why a much thinner person who can't lose that last 10 lbs is just as discouraged.
Some folks who have chosen the AF lifestyle sometimes can't understand why some people may think they can moderate.
They surely didn't believe that moderating was possible when I went to AA 20+ years ago. The fact that someone could MODERATE their drinking was unheard of.
That's the beauty of R.J. designing this site. She knew many folks didn't want to believe that they could never drink again the rest of their lives. And although the one day at a time motto helps people to do that the thought of it just doesn't work for some folks. So they don't quit. And many destroy their lives and/or the lives of others.
You mention you drink a lot. Would you be surprised to find out I can only drink 3-4 drinks and I would be as drunk as someone else who can hold 10?
We all process alcohol differently. So just as we can tolerate drinking differently, I believe we can take different avenues with this. Some may find moderating works. Some may try and find they either can't do it or they prefer not to because "gosh darn it" they end up having such a great life being AF!
We're all in this together, let's not create barriers between the AF and the modders. Although I have no problem with AF people coming to this board I personally would never go to an AF board and try to
sway members into going the mod route because I think there are people who just can't do it and they have to go AF.
Hope this clears things up."Control your destiny or somebody else will"
