    Define Moderation

    Moderation

Drinking only to the point of relaxation and not beyond. That's not going to happen here. I have to be AF.

      Good definition...

Hard to achieve for many of us, though.
Good luck with what's working for you.

I am in the same boat with you, it's "All or nothing" I have repeatedly told myself I will only have 2 (or 3 or 6....) But I have serious "impaired control" issues....I rarely ever stop drinking before I pass out. (and call all my ex's and embarrass myself in various ways) That's why I think for me abstinence is the only way...

            Seven words sums it up.

I can get a "taste" just fine. A few sips, or I water down my wine. If I even remotely "feel" the effect I'm in for a reminder of past battles.

I'm mod. I'll mix an ounce of wine with 6 oz of water, and a bit of sweetener (stevia now) and sip on that. No more than 2 oz of wine per hour, 5 oz total per evening.

              Define Moderation

I have today set myself the goal of THIRTY DAYS abstinence.

Had thought about what you call 'modding' but at present when I drink, I don't stop easily either. So it feels really hard, but 30 days to start for me. I've tried to analyse the situations where I drink too much and they mostly occur when work, family and a small child just get too much for me. When babes goes to bed, it seems to be the only way I can unwind, as I'm too tired for anything else. I really though that part of the reason I get so tired is the alcohol. I'm an 'older' mum over 40 and have not always drunk so much (and didn't at all during pregnancy) but it has been there in my life.

I've recently realised that I feel my most urgent need to combat stress is being on my own more and just having time to collect my thoughts. Not being emotionally 'available' to anyone. I love my daughter dearly, but sometimes I really miss this.

So might be able to go for modding when I've got my thirty days behind me.
wish me luck everyone, I've signed up for the 30 days things

                Startafresh,
I totally understand the older mom thing -- I had my son at 40, and he is now almost 3. I am exhausted and stressed out, and it is very hard to take time for ourselves. Good luck with your 30 day goal.
