Today I practiced Moderation by...(fill in the blank)

The Mod Life is the Good Life.
Just learn "Moderation in all things".
    Too much of ANYTHING is bad;
so practice putting healthy limits on yourself.

Remember eating a whole box of Girl Scout cookies and thinking the boxes seemed ALOT smaller these days???:H

My wife bought a grocery bag of Cookies this year.
Today I opened the Thin Mints and ate...
    one...
    single...
    cookie...

    IT WAS DELICIOUS!

Today I practiced Moderation by stopping at ONE COOKIE

What have you done to practice Moderation today???
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that brings us happiness.

O.K. Kid- Since today is Ash Wed and I am on my way to mass and you did
    mention Girl Scout thin mints................
I cracked a box on Sunday and ate........................
    THE WHOLE BOX!
Still better than a bottle of wine, right? :H
So, since the topic at hand is what I did for moderation today, how about the 6 hersheys kisses instead of the handful I would normally eat?
    Toughen up!

Since I've put on 20 lbs. the last 10 years (is this a result of age or age and booze, I think the latter) for the past two weeks, I decided I needed to make positive changes in my whole life, just not one area. I've been on so many "diets" in my life. I know what to eat, how to eat, but I just don't do it. So I threw out my weight watchers books, my south beach diet and atkins books. I decided it was time for just eating a balanced, good diet which includes whole grains, chicken, fish, veggies and fruits. And the most important thing here is moderation in all of those foods. Portion control. In other words, moderation in all of these foods. I've lost 8 lbs.! No counting calories, fat grams, or carbs. Just balance in with the right foods.
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

            Those sound WAY too good...

            Evie:
            I'm afraid it's too soon to say you ate just one;
you've just eaten one SO FAR!
But try to hold on, or you'll hate yourself in the morning.

IAD: We'll have to go over the Modder philosophy again...
It's OK if you have a little ketchup on your eggs...
Having A LITTLE BIT of anything you like adds to the quality of life, remember?

Stick with us; you'll get it.

            I practiced moderation today
by limiting my time on the computer(difficult)
I got on at 7,12,6...I had no idea until I tried to limit my time, just how much of my day gets eaten up online!!

This morning I practiced moderation by getting the least possible amount of work done.
                    Does that count? :H

Kid, Thanks for this thread. I agree that there are more ways to moderate than just alcohol. Evening munchies is my weakness. It is so easy to polish off a box of thin mints, especially with nice cold milk. At least I no longer drink a couple of glasses of wine with a bag of potato chips. I am improving with this food thing, my food diary is helping.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

These are all excellent in their own way...

DeeBee and Sunshine_gg: When we are busy or unmotivated, just touching base with something that needs more of our time is a form of discipline; moderation of sorts.
Letting ourselves spend too much time on those pursuits would detract from our day.
If we didn't spend ANY time on them, we would lose our self discipline and be less likely to perform those tasks optimally in the future.
                        Successful "Modding"..:goodjob:

Sunbeam: Yes; even better than DrinkTracker, the Food Diary works like magic.
                        SweatyBetty: It's a start.
IAD: Did you have a little ketchup on your eggs today?
                        Wasn't that nice?
Now let's work on not eating the whole carton of eggs!
Then you'll be learning to be a Modder.
