    Today I practiced Moderation by...

    Today I practiced Moderation by taking my daughter to the Circus!!
    I got online, looked at where the various seats were
    and got some reasonably priced ones.
    I didn't get the cheapest seats.
    I didn't give in to the urge to get VERY expensive seats either,
    which was tempting because my daughter is 16
    and we've never been to the Circus together before.
    No, I got REALLY well placed seats at the reasonable price level.
    We had money enough left for a premium parking spot (to make an unstressed getaway after),
    cotton candy, popcorn,
    and a funny hat!
    We had a wonderful Father/Daughter time,
    and at a price even a tightwad old Dad could love!

            I try to avoid them because they have no nutritional value. I still weigh at least 10# more than I would like, but I eat good food. My most frequent snack consists of walnuts, almonds, toasted soy "nuts" and dried cranberries - all super foods. If I indulge, it will be chocolate or ice cream.

                Today I practiced Moderation by...

                I bought the crew doughnuts.
                They love them...
                I love them...
                I cut one in fourths and savored a small piece of doughnut;
                and that was THAT!
                If I'm going to take in calories; it's going to be something more nutritious than a doughnut!

                      I practiced moderation today by...

                      Walking everywhere I went, not using the car once.
                      I'll save the car for something important,
                      the way Modders save the drink for a special occasion...

                      I had a single beer after work,
                      wishing just for a minute that I had a second.
                      But I waited and felt wonderful.
                      I am a Modder.

                      I practiced moderation today by not watching TV mindlessly;
                      but by going to bed early and reading;
                      letting my body rest and heal,
                      saving the energy for something worthwhile.
                      I am a Modder.

                        I practices moderation today by having a glass of wine after work during the Bold and The Beautiful (my dirty little secret) and later on bought a bottle of wine for a friend and had 2 glasses and came home. I have had no more since, and am trying to stay up and watch a movie as hubbies out for the evening but I am simply sooo tired and am not masking it with alcohol and empty calories. There was a time not long ago, that I thought it was impossible for me to have "just a couple" or even "just one" without blowing it all. I am pleased with this. I know it will take an iron will, but I think I may be able to do moderation, at least in drinking.

                              Ronnie,
                              The book isn't particularly helpful for learning to drink moderately. Be sure to read the threads under Long Term Moderation, so you can develop your own plan. Join the Mod Squad if you like!
