I'm getting the feeling I'm the only HEAVY drinker here.. from reading the posts it looks like everyone here are wine drinkers... not that that's bad.. but I'ld like to talk to someone like me.. a bottle of vodka a day isn't wine.. that's like beer to me by now..
Oh well.. I think I'm gonna go to the pub anyway.. love ya's..

    Mike,

I drank vodka most of my adult life, close to 30 yrs. The last 3 years, before I came to MWO, I was drinking close to a liter a day. Practically 24/7.

I had 51/2 mnths af and then had a 2 week relapse in July. I have 3 mnths af now. Total abstinence is my goal.

I never come to the modding section and am only here today to clarify something I read on another post.

Why don't you come to the starting out section and introduce yourself there. You will find a lot of supportive people on this site.

      Mike,

You might want to read through the following thread and see my post there. I may not be as "bad" as you but I may be much "worse." The doctors describe me as a "late stage" alcoholic.

However, none of us can keep you from going to the pub. Only you can do that. We can help you find ways to keep from going there, though.

Mike if you're looking for some kind of identification with someone who drinks like you then might I suggest you try an AA meeting. You will soon see that alcoholism is not about how much or how little you drink. It's about the obsession we have to use drink to change the way we feel about ourselves. There are plenty here, like you, who have been hardened drinkers (some like myself who have used drugs too to escape reality) who are now living in the solution rather than the problem. We all have choices whether we decide to go to the pub or not. We cannot continually blame our addiction or other people for that. It is up to you and you alone to decide what you want to do about your drinking. It makes me feel quite angry to be honest that you would consider people 'lightweights' because they don't drink like you. This is not a competition my friend. Start looking at the solution and start living your life rather than a 'virtual' one. I'll gladly share with you what it has been like for me and what I do today to keep myself sober if you're ready to hear that. Are you ready? Have you really had enough? Do you want to stay locked in this crippling 'groundhog day' way of life? It's up to you my friend.

          Hi Mike,
A bottle of vodka a day was my problem for a few years.
I was drinking too much cheap wine, so I switched; the logic being that I couldn't drink as much vodka and I'd be drinking less.
          What a joke!
Whatever you drink; wine, beer or spirits, it's all the same. They're only the carrier for alcohol which is the same whatever your drinking, you're just getting it faster with the stronger stuff.

mike r we are not here to compare :war stories: of who drank, how much what & where
most of us are here to help ourselves and help others with a common addiction
For 99% of people here this is not a competition or a game, its a very serious fall in life, obviously you dont read as many threads/posts as you think.

OMG.. you're all amazing... but To Sheri.. yes it is.. try waking up on the 10th morning after drinking vodka all day!! I'm not saying I'm more an alcoholic then you.. but I need to hear something from some one like me.. You don't understand what I feel every morning.. and the severeness of the tremors if I quit for a few days.. I can't even type.. I'm like a vibrator..
just the kind you'd really want.. cause I vibrate violently..

Mike, no one knows exactly how you feel, no one can possibly know.
But what we can do is offer you support to help you turn things around.
Is there any way you get some medical advice to help you through withdrawals?
It sounds like you might be seriously at risk of seziures if you quit suddenly so please be careful.
Keep checking in Mike, It IS possible to get well.

                      Hi Mike,
You can get yourself together you know?
The first thing is to stay away from the bottle, just for today, so you can gather your thoughts and put a plan together.
Are you OK with the idea of going to see your doctor? You're not well and that's what they're there for.
Also, you will be very dehydrated, so take some water; not too much though, and try and get some food down you.
Keep in touch whatever you decide to do.

I have only been on MWO for a short time , but with the help of everyone here , I am 29 days AF. I don't know what the future holds , but one thing I do know is that I need the people on MWO ! Get serious about your drinking problem , one day at a time , and keep coming here :l AND NO , I do not go to AA !! I just like a couple of their quotes.:h :h Em
