    PARTYING IN KEY WEST

Been on vacation driving a motor home from Quebec Canada to Key West Florida. I had decided to drink my nightly wine sharing a bottle with hubby on this vacation and not try to moderate. So now we are well into our week at Key West and having a few beers (2) during the day and doing the wine thing at night. Last night we went to a Drag show and had so much fun. Hubby and I each had two watery martinis.

What I am getting at is I need to do that 30 day AF thing that I have been avoiding when I get back because boy am I dehydrated in this heat and my body needs to detox.

The good thing is we have been cooking a lot of good, healthy food. There is a fish market on the wharf within walking distance of the campground so we pick up some shrimp, lobster, tuna, etc. every day and cook it along with delicious veggies.

I love this moderation section as i can be myself and talk openly. Been checking on you guys mostly every day and will begin my 30 day AF journey the day I get back. It will be a challenge as I am easily influenced by others and the best intentions can go up in smoke at a "Would you like a glass of wine my Dear?" moment.. Maybe this time it will be different.

Just rambling but on a happy note for those who like to camp we have found the jewel of the Keys in this campground. It's called Boyds Campground and each campsite has a large luscious palm tree hovering over it giving much needed shade. The pool is like a five star hotel's and the campground is situated on a bay in the Atlantic Ocean; water everywhere... We will be back; that's for sure. Any suggestions of best beaches or points of interest in Key West??? Let me know but for now.. So long my MWO friends.

    PARTYING IN KEY WEST

Hi Tipp, just now saw your post. Sound like you're having a super vacation you're having. I hear you about overdoing it, though. I felt like I needed to come back home to recover from a short one I recently took with hubs. Sorry I haven't been to Key West so can't advise you on places to camp.

Re your 30 day AB period. I highly recommend it! Really, it gets you out of the small world of drinking and opens your eyes to a lot of things. I wen't 2.5 months, and it has made the difference in my being able to moderate. I don't think that's true for most people, though. I think I caught my drinking problem before it got totally out of control.

I guess we'll hear more from you when you get back. Be safe!

      PARTYING IN KEY WEST

We had to rush back as hubby's sister and her husband were killed on the treacherous Quebec country road from the city to their place in the countryside. So we put in three long days and after 17 hours on the road yesterday alone, we arrived home to help with the funeral arrangements. Funnily enough, while going through the stress of the death and the rush to get home, at night when we parked the motor home we did not reach for the bottle, we just crawled into bed. Anyway, home now and will return to what I stared before we left. Moderation and possibly a few weeks A/F.

      Home Sweet Home

PS - still LOVE Key West ... want to go back !!

Thank you everyone. My husband was very close to his sister but she sure lived life to the fullest... in a good way. She died with the love of her life so that is a bit comforting. It still is going to be tough as hubby is the executor of a very complicated will. We really appreciate your sympathies. Trying to stop or slow down just to keep a clear head. I think i will use the drinktracker to monitor myself.

Sorry to hear about your loss. My wife and I were on Holiday last week in Quebec, we must have received at least a meter of snow. I moderated with my wife at an old condo in Old Quebec City, skied and snowshoed by the day. We canceled a ski outing to Mounte Sainte Anne midweek because the roads were so snow covered. We saw so many accidents. Sorry again to hear about your hubby and your loss..........in the middle of all the suffering in the world we still get stung personally by the sting of death. Your story really touched me.
Ready to pull the brake and moderate more.:welcome:

Thanks, again everyone. It's funny how the family is in shock and not really believing that we will never laugh and touch these two "larger than life" members of our family. I keep waiting for a phone call from them inviting us to one of their Country and Western Jamborees which we only went to to support their passion for music. Now I am glad we did !! For the record, we are having better weather finally here in western Quebec. Spring is around the corner.

We live every day as if it were our last and having lost these two family members, we are comforted that they too, lived like us and our children have been commenting about living life more fully which is good news as it's one of my most firm beliefs.

Anyways, on to the next subject... those poor Japanese ... the whole Country could be wiped off the face of the map. I hope our politicians learn from this disaster.

                          Hi Tipp,

So sorry to hear about the accident!

I haven't been on MWO for a few months as I was AF for a few months at the start of the year (and remember meeting you on here back then) and then I, too, went on a trip to a warm, sunny place to escape the winter in New England and ended up drinking again back in late March. I am happy that you found such a wonderful camp site in the Keys! I have never been there but it's on my list of places to see somewhere in the future!
