    Moder8 Day by Day

Day 13 Recap: Stuck to plan - had a couple of beers after dinner. I'm still concerned that my drinking days are starting to run together, but I'm not drinking much, and I've yet to drink enough to actually feel anything since I started, which is good.

Day 14 Plan: 1-2 drinks. I'm going out this evening. I'll take the Moder8 before I go.

I'm going to start updating weekly now that I've had 1 week AF followed by 1 week moderating. I'm feeling good about things. I'm going to make sure this week that I insert a couple of completely AF days into the week. While I don't actually think 1-2 drinks per day is an unhealthy amount, for me, there's something I think might be unhealthy about drinking every single day. I need to make sure I take at least a day a week off, maybe more.

I'll devise that plan today, and update next week.

Overall, though, I feel very good about Moder8. One thing that I've noticed is that, when taking it, my drinking really slows down. I nurse a beer for a long, long time, and that's a good thing.

Zim, just wanted to say that I hope you'll keep posting. I'm reading (and benefitting) from your writings. So, if you're inclined and have time, just know that there are those of us who are following you.

It sounds like you're doing very well. I don't take Moder8, but I have dramatically changed my drinking pattern because I started to have major problems (developed over time).

I do want to comment on your sleep.....alcohol is a prime factor in how I sleep. Very cut and dry - if I drink, my sleep is disturbed. If I don't drink, I sleep beautifully. Not sure how the Moder8 affects it, though. Just thought I'd throw that in.

      Best to you --

Unwasted, please keep posting. I am following you and have the same drinking pattern. Red wine and split a bottle at dinner with hubby but make sure I get more... We don't often open the second bottle. Can you give me a link to Moder8's website please.

Unwasted & Zim, I wish I could say the same. I have been 'moderating' since end of May. I did 14 Days AF, went fairly well except for lack of sleep. Had a bit of anxiety but don't know if that was from detoxing or not sleeping. Now even with taking Advil PM or Benadryl, or Melatonin and drinking Sleepy Time Tea, I'm up and about in the middle of the night after AF days. When drinking I wake up to use bathroom but am able to go right back to sleep. Seems like I'm the only one with the opposite effect.

Zim - thanks for sharing your experience. Moder8 seems to be working great! Happy for you!

OK - another week in the books. I did drink a little more this last week, but most of it was super-low-alcohol-content beer (bud select 55), and at no point was I even buzzed. I'm going to try to stay alcohol free during the week this week. Heading up to Napa over the weekend, so I plan on doing some wine-tasting, but sticking with Moder8 and not going overboard.

While I have cut back a fair bit, I've been drinking almost every day. Even in moderation, I don't like this, and that's what I aim to change starting today.

I originally ordered a month supply of Moder8 (60 tablets), and I ordered a 3-month supply this weekend. I'm going to take it for at least that long.

@ToMyHealth: My sleep hasn't been consistent, but I've found it to be more effective
when I don't drink, or drink little. I don't go to sleep as early, and I don't often get a full 8 hours, but I don't find that I actually need it.

I enjoy reading your posts Zim. I went on the website to see what's in this Moder8. It just says amino acids without a layout. Does the bottle say what it contains? Not that I'm asking you to list it for me, but I am curious if they label what they put in there. Many people around here take various aminos to curb drinking and I would be curious if some of the same were contained in some of the supps others are taking.

I hope you have a moderate weekend in Napa Valley.

                Hey, RedHead, thanks for reading.

                Moder8 contains the following:

                Vitamin B1: 5mg
                Vitamin B2: 5mg
                Vitamin B6: 25mg
                Vitamin b12: 25mcg
                Proprietary Blend: 760mg

Proprietary Blend contains: y-Aminobutyric acid, 5-HTP from Griffonia Seed Extract and L-Theanine

What I've found is that Moder8 hasn't really stopped my desire to drink at all, but it does affect when I stop. I've been drinking most days, but I'll typically have about 4 Bud Select 55 beers. These beers have about half the alcohol of most light beers, so alcohol-wise, it's roughly equivalent to about 2 typical light beers. I tend to consume these over the course of 3 hours. At no point do I feel the effect of the alcohol at all, and usually somewhere around the 3rd or 4th, I don't want anymore. I often will open a 4th, but no finish it.

Napa should be interesting, but my plan is to stick to lite beer, except during wine tastings. The wine tasting should be a relatively small amount of alcohol, and pretty spread out, so we'll see.

After this weekend, I'm planning another AF week.

                  Hi Zim, and all,
I have been reading through the posts to see if there are others who are moderating their drinking. I have been AF for 58 days at this point. Had aimed for being AF till Thanksgiving, which I know I can do...but have also been thinking of having a drink with a friend this week...maybe, maybe not. Nothing I am feeling compelled to do.

I haven't had an alcohol craving in forever. I take a lot of supplements, although none specifically for AL. More for mood/depression/adrenal exhaustion. I am sure they help with AL too though. They do contain B-vitamins, and 5-HTP as it seems the Moder8 does. I do not take L-Theanine because it makes me feel really odd, and interferes with my sleep. Perhaps that is what was affecting your sleep Zim?

Anyway, it is nice to read about others who are modding. I will continue to read this thread.

                  Hope you are well!
