Not sure if this is it, but after a while I think we drink to get back to normal because we're in a bad way, if that makes sense. Those etchings in our brain are telling us we need alcohol just like we need foood. So, we don't get the euphoria anymore, just get back to square one.

But I don't consciously feel in a bad way. Maybe it satisfies my addiction to sugar; you know that down we feel when our body needs it. Tonight I had no problem saying no to alcohol and another good thing is all those friends we have over all the time are all really burnt out from Christmas boozing and over-eating. A few of them have said they are giving up alcohol. It was music to my ears. These are the people I blame for being booze pushers. Three of the four (two couples) have said they are taking January off drinking. Hubby has agreed to do it too. This might be just the thing that I need to follow through with this.
Unwasted you have really been my recent inspiration. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.Tipplerette

:l:lTipster:l:l:l Well, that's fantastic that others are seeing the writing on the wall. Why don't you be the inspiration for them? I think lots of people would love to get away from the grip of al. I just know you can do this - I remember how positive and happy you were when you had your long stint of AF. I'm really pullin for ya. :h

Yes, true. I am the oldest of the group. I should be a good example. I will stop posting here on the moderation thread and continue posting on the other A/F threads. That's a start. So I will close off my Cautiously Optimistic Journal and continue to NOT DRINK BOOZE.
Thanks for pullin' for me. I really means a lot.Tipplerette
