Rags and another member posted some info a week or so ago about Buddhism with a link. I followed the links and found myself on a 'Raja Yoga/meditation' website with a beginners retreat camp in the Blue Mountains which is a gorgeous and peaceful spot that lies behind Sydney. The March retreat was all sold so I signed up for a beginners retreat in April. I emailed the administrator and as it turns out, they had just had someone pull out of, so I got a spot for the March camp which is this weekend... Yes!
So, what's the retreat all about? I don't exactly know, apart from the fact that it's Buddhist based, vegetarian, alcohol and smoke free, and we stay in these basic but cute looking rooms that overlook the mountains, and learn the beginners guide to meditation.
My mum and I had been talking a few months ago about going on a health retreat together, and I told her about it yesterday, so she might be joining me on the April one. One of her friends did it and loved it. I arrive Friday afternoon and leave Sunday arvo.
I ordered the 'Complete idiots guide to understanding Buddhism' which arrived today, so I'll be sinking my teeth into that book tonight.
I'm picturing that it'll be very basic style living and way of life over the weekend, which will be refreshing and I'm looking forward to the whole adventure and learning something new.
So, I'll be packing a few (logo free) long skirts and tops, moisturiser (ie no Max Factor!), my running gear-less the ipod, my supps and absolutely leaving the laptop and Blackberry behind! I'll be driving up in the Peugeot cabrioet (Ohhh god, I sound like such a yuppy) for the 90 min drive with the wind in my hair (unless it's raining :H ) and can't wait!
