I have been reading posts for about 3 weeks now and I just joined today! I saw an interview on the Today show about moderation and the stigma that still lives in the AA world. I was AF for 9years and began questioning my "alcoholism" branding about 5 years into it. I really never craved drink but loved getting BUZZED! I lived in an environment where drinking all day everyday was the norm. A ski resort. I was there for 13 years and when I finally moved I continued to drink like I did while I lived there. I went to 30 day treatment where I found it easy to abstain. I want to know for myself if I am able to be moderate or if I must abstain. So far so good. I have a glass of wine at dinner or in the evening but not every night and I will have a beer or 2 after golf. I am going to start to chart my drinking to get a better picture. I have the CD's and began the supliments BEFORE I had that first beer. The tapes in my head from 9 years of AA sometime frighten me and make me think I am such a bad person. I wouldn't change a thing as AA taught me more then just about drinking and that I will have forever. I just can't keep telling myself I am powerless any more because I do not believe that deep down. I am glad I found MWO and I am happy to be here!

:new: Hi everyone!
I have been reading posts for about 3 weeks now and I just joined today! I saw an interview on the Today show about moderation and the stigma that still lives in the AA world. Welcome Jules, and we are glad you are here as well. Moderation is possible for some people. It sounds like you are doing it. Yes, this is a very different approach from AA but that does mean it is wrong. It is different in that it really addresses the biochemical issues related to drinking along with the support of people who understand.
You said you were interested in keeping track of your drinks. If you are interested there is a drink tracker on here where you can list the number of drinks you have in a day which can really help people stay on track. Might want to check it out. :welcome:I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

Mornin' Jules......I was going to say wot the Lusheroo has posted...there is a drink tracker on here...it's a good way to moniter your intake,
I'm glad that AA helped you so much, and it also is good that you now feel, because of the good grounding there, that you can start to make some of your own choices regarding your healthy life, whether that be abstinence or moderation....you are going the right way, reading, supps, and the support here will help you along whichever path you truly feel is the one that is right for you....
See you round the boards....slaloming past me no doubt...I have trouble even walking unaided so anyone who can move in a sensible fashion with two sticks on their feet gets my coordination vote every time......haha!!

Thanks!
I appreciate the grand welcome! I really liked what you said lush....It isn't wrong and I have the tools I cultivated over the past 9 years to help me make choices. I can say it was very helpful to address the core issues while being AF in therapy. Took me a good long time to get at them. I found the drink tracker and entered my info today. I like the fact it allows you to set a goal if you wish or just track. I have a question......I did not feel the need (at the moment) to go down the Topamax or Campral road however, I am glad that option is there should I ever need it. The question is.....am I setting myself up for failure? I have read so many different things and one of the things that was so very attractive about MWO is you can tailor it to your individual needs unlike most programs. So....what are your thoughts regarding the Topamax. Also......is there a difference in the Kudzu rescue from MWO vs what I got fro the health store? I bought the 1.22g 1223mg. I really don't understand the content on the bottle as it is different from the other supliments.
Thanks and I hope you all have a great evening!
