    withdrawal chances

    Hey everybody ,

I havent had a drink in about 12 days and was considering having a few at a friends today. Im a little concerned because last time I drank I got bad withdrawal symptoms. This was after a three day binge and was the first time I ever had any noticable withdrawal symptoms. I was a heavu drinker for about 8 years and now Im trying to cut back to maybe once or twice a month. Do you think drinking one night after a twelve day dry will cause withdrawal. I dont want to go through that again. It only lasted about 24 hours but it was intense with hallucinations. Anxiety and all that stuff.

I would think withdrawl symptoms would result from not drinking after prolonged heavy use, as opposed to resulting from having a drink. Are you saying that you are afraid to moderate by a having just a couple of drinks because if you stop at that point, then you'll get withdrawl symptoms?

If you haven't drank in 12 days you should be pretty dried out at this point. I guess I don't get your question. I've never drank heavily enough to have withdrawl symptoms so I can't speak from experience. I'm just trying to apply commen sense to your question.

Ive always been an on again off again drinker but last time I went overboatd amd got some bad withdrawal. Dont want that to ever happen again amd made me realize I should stop or cut back. Im going to tone it down to one or two days out of the month.

        Hi Jojoofu,
You're a binge alcoholic who likes to have a bender every once in a while and want to cut back to once or twice a month yeh?
You're worried about getting pissed for one night and wonder if you'll get the DT's again.

My answer is of course you'll feel awful the next day, thats a hangover, but you shouldn't get the DT's unless you go for it over a few days but it's still dangerous.

If you want to moderate as what this site stands for then cut back your alcohol consumption for that one night. To moderate is to only have 2 drinks a day for a man and 1 drink for the ladies with days off, it's difficult and I'm still working on it myself.

Hope you had a nice night and didn't go over the top.

It's not what you drink, it's how much!

I couldn't have answered it better myself. In fact, I did a poor job of it. Thanks Lasha for bailing me out. Good luck to you and to Jojo in moderating this month.
