Ok this is a really, really weird one. I tested a teenager recently. Well, this morning the kids dad and step-mom came to go over the results. They both thought I looked so familiar but couldn't place it. I knew exactly why. I have gone to AA a few times over the years, but haven't been in several years now. One of the meetings I went to on a few occasions was where these two individuals went as well. In discussing their child, they mentioned that they were in recovery, talked about alcohol issues in their pasts, etc. It was such an uncomfortable meeting for me. I am fairly certain they were not able to place how they knew me, as they seemed unable to figure it out, but it was just so hard to keep my professional posture, review the testing, and play stupid. They were such a nice couple, and they seemed so...well just so happy. A piece of me just wanted to scream out..."hey, can you guys help me????" (now THAT would have been professional!)

Ughh...sometimes this is so hard. Anyway, just had to share it...somewhere. It isn't like I can tell this story anywhere else!!

Other than that, the day is good. I have a professional networking lunch in a little while. I slept well last night (thank GOD, would have been a much weirder encounter if I were hungover!), and it is Friday. Tomorrow is my 11th wedding anniversary with my husband. He is taking me somewhere for dinner, but it is a suprise where. That will be nice.

Oh, it is my niece's 21st birthday today as well.

Beth, that is an ackward situation but, if they are AA "vets" even if eventually they put it together where they know you it won't make a difference to them. Once people have been in AA for a while and they bump into someone, it's like bumping into them at the supermarket. Anyway we do have to get together for lunch again soon.

Hi Gang!!!

Glad the weekend is here. Tonight I will be doing my annual bartending at my daughter's school auction. Always a good time although the drinks are free so I will be bringing water and supplements and behave this year for a change. My bartending buddies won't know what happened to me since this time last year!!

Bak, what an awkward situation that must have been. Happy birthday and prayers for your neice.

Tough Week

Hi all -

To say it's been a tough week for me is an understatement. It's been more like a living hell. Everything from people saying it's time for me to 'buck up and move on' to threats left as a comment on Jim's blog. I was able to manage a couple of AF days this week, so perhaps that counts for something...

I've found a forum strictly for young widows and it's been a godsend for me this week. Yes, it's made me even sadder in ways, but I also have some comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in this horrible journey that I've been forced on. I am also starting some grief counseling later today; kinda scared about that. I am tired of crying, tired of being depressed, tired of being tired yet not able to sleep cause as soon as I fall asleep, I roll over looking for him and wake up to the realization that he'll never be there again...

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I love you all. Re-reading the comments that some of you left on Jim's blog gave me some comfort today.

Hi Everybody, today has been rough! Not anything to compare with what a lot of people here are going through! But, I remember what my mother said one time when a lady at the PTA asked her why she was concerned about how children felt. "After all", the woman said, "they're just children". One of the most profound moments in my life was when my mother turned to this very influential woman and said, "it is very important because their problems are just as big to them, after all they are just little people; but real people with the same feelings as you and I". Boy, my mother became the biggest hero in my life, and stays there today because she walks that walk and talks that talk.

So, I can tell you that on its face, my problems could never compare to most of the problems here. But I need time to deal with them. I love all of you, but I am not going to drag everybody down with my petty problems. So I'm going to take a little breather here. But you know, I love all of you more than you will ever know, and if any of you ever need me, please do not hesitate to PM me. I will think of you often,and it will give me courage. I will return when I think that I can once again be of value to all who come here.
