Hi there,
I've been 'with the MWO programme' for a few months now and for a while I was spending every spare moment on this site! Not so much recently, partly because I've been so busy with work and well, just getting on with life, and partly because I haven't really have a great deal to say!!!!
MWO is working SO WELL for me (I'm now moderating after an AF period - a glass or two of wine on social occasions only, which is exactly where I wanted to be) and I am delighted, relieved and very, very grateful to MWO and to everyone on this site who supported me directly and indirectly as I started to make changes to my life.
Sometime soon I'd like to post about my experience with moderating. I know some of you have done this already and I also know this is a bit of a neglected area - I have some 'views'. Should I???
More than that I guess I'm looking for a 'home' and some one to chat to from time to time - I don't really seem to fit in any where else.
I'd like to get to know you all better,

Well done on your achievements, I'm not quite as good as you yet but I haven't been 'drunk' or drank alone since november last year so i'm feeling pretty happy with MWO as well ....

I hadn't quite worked out where I best fitted on the site and felt I needed somewhere to check in to from time to time! Was feeling a bit aimless and homeless....
Now, no underestimating what you've done. I reckon no getting drunk or drinking alone is quite an achievement. Like so many of us drinking alone was becoming a problem for me too (really the thing that made me have a bit of a look around for some assistance and which finally brought me here!!)
Tell you what is hard! Watching The Bill on Saturday night (its Saturday night here) without a glass of wine, so I am being good aren't I?

It's starting to rain in Melbourne!!!!! Well sorta drizzle at any rate. My garden will love any little bit it gets. We've been in severe drought for months now.

Good morning, mods. I am sitting in my quiet study. I'm savoring these few minutes. It seems as though everyone in my life is needy at the moment. My musician son when on the road to California, stayed overnight in a barbershop, and the owner later called him and said that $900 was missing from the place after they left. Matt is truly upset over this, and he says that he is going to his band and telling them that he is going to sell one of his guitars to pay the guy's loss, hoping that if someone actually took the money, he will step forward. He says he can't get the reputation as a thief in California.
My older son in Japan, who sent us his Korean girlfriend, is sick with missing her and worrying that she's not happy. He called yesterday morning after I sent him and email saying that she had a meltdown. He was drunk and crying (it was night time in Japan). The night before, she was not drunk, but crying from just the stress of coming here and dealing with the pressure from her family to perform. Her reading class is too hard, and she's spending hours (with me) reading and translating.
My mother is leaving her home of 60 years to come to Dallas, where I live. She is going through all her stuff and trying to get work on her new apartment, which is an independent living facility. I need to find a painter for her. We have a long history of conflict, but this is for the best, and I know I have to help her.
I read what people here have on their plates, and so many people have it worse. And this isn't so bad, really, just exhausting. Also, I tried going back on kudzu since I got the new, free bottle, and, once again, I got terrible diarrhea. Both kudzu and topa do that to me, so I think I need to find a new drug. I want to be able to have an occasional drink, but I'm not really happy right now with the level of my wine drinking. Also, I've been too busy to exercise, and that's not good.
Anyway, I miss the daily contact here. I need to get things organized so I can get back on track. Have a good weekend, all.Comment

Beaches and Hawk- Some things are better left unquestioned! Good to see you both.
Jamie- Sorry to say your Saturday projects do not sound too fun if the best one is the raking! Hopefully you can do something nice for yourself too. Please pet the doggy for me.
Optimist- I am a bit slow. I really looked @ your avatar today and determined it is a snow angel. Pretty cool!
Fsophiah- That is awful about the $900. I really hope someone comes clean but why on earth would the owner have it available to take? Should be locked in safe. I do not get it. Maybe the owner made it up? No one in their right mind would leave $900 available for the taking when strangers are going to be sleeping in the shop. Yes, call me cynical. Is a bad situation all the way around.
More- Thanks for your comments today. I still do have lizzie. I think he crawled between some newspapers and mail. I have been afraid to pick them up but when I do, will go straight to the door and toss them into a planter bed so if he is there he will have a soft landing. Saw another lizard in the front yard. Must be lizard season. And yes, I knew your avatar yesterday was a joke. Believe me when I say I am not terribly sensitive, as if you did not already know! No worries @ all. I enjoy the playfulness. Lizard Lounge is a fun one!

Fsophiah-I agree that is terrible about the $900 and that your son is going to sell his guitar. I hope that whoever did it steps up too and takes the high ground. Ya know how that goes though. You do have a full plate and I think the day to day things are what take the biggest toll on us sometimes. Good luck.

Duck I just read the Lizard link this morning because I wanted to get caught up on the progress of the capture and release program and was quite surprised at the turn of events that transpired on there. I agree that it was a good idea to close that thread. The fun ended pretty darn quick. I am still in awe over your new duck, I shall be thinking of it today as I go along my daily business

Fsophiah, you really do have a lot on your plate. Emotional exhastion is worse than physical.
I have a couple of big iguanas (3 feet) sunning themselves in the backyard and thought of Ducky's predicament. I went to post on that thread and read what transpired as well.Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.Comment

Happy Saturday everyone! Last night I was going to suggest smooshing that lizard with an old tennis shoe. You came up with a much better and much more humane way of dealing with the issue! We're off for a bike ride, I hope. Having some mechanical difficulties at this moment that hubby is working on. Have a great weekend all!
