    Meds Annoy Me

I have topa and campral. Have taken them both. Prefer campral because my goal for now is to abstain. However, it irritates me that with these drugs they must be taken multiple times throughout the day to be effective. So, today is only Day 2 of being back on campral. It is almost 3:00 and I just realized I have been so busy gardening and being handy, that I forgot Dose # 2. And when I do remember Dose # 2 or # 3, I am usually with someone and do not want to explain what I am taking. I do not feel I have to explain with those I see seldom, but with family or boyfriend, I cannot make up excuses forever. Why can't they make a pill you just take once per day??? I would be abs by now if they did. There is the monthly shot of some med that starts with a v, maybe vivatrol, but I am phobic about needles and do not want to go through my insurance company. I researched it a few months ago and it was super expensive to pay out of pocket- like $300+ per month if I remember correctly.

Ok, my rant is over for the moment and I am going to take my missed dose of campral.

      Ok V,

I changed it just for you. My duck and cat can unite.

But back to my med issue...

I would have a much easier time with it if I had a predictable day to day work routine but it is anything but predictable.

Ok, my rant really is over now and I am back to my list of 1000 things to do in the next 4 hours.

Oh, and another thing- I meant to post this in General. Oh well.

I feel the same way about the kudzu you have to take alot of it. It does feel weird taking pills all day long.

Like the patch idea, kind of a time release sort of patch. Slap it on and you are good to go.

Sammys (maybe we could put the patch over our mouths and that would help, Just kidding)

Lucky, I feel your pain. I have the same darn problem with Campral. Plus, I hate taking meds on an empty stomach, and I really don't eat three times a day. I figure the reason I don't do well on Campral is that I can't comply to the three times a day. And how do you space them? Is less than four hours apart okay?
I'd take those shots, but you gotta "register" for them with the manufacture, and I don't want to be labeled a you know what.
The patch idea is awesome South. Perfect!

I got over my issue with the meds. They do not annoy me so much today. I am thrilled that there even meds to help. Many never had the options we do today.

I think that is a wonderful way to look at things Lucky. I can't imagine trying to do this all by myself, and so many people have had to struggle through alcoholism without supplements and modern medication. We are truly "Lucky". And, of course, we have each other and that too makes all the difference.
