    Teacher Gifts

I am calling on all my friends here to help me out. My twins are leaving their preschool that they have been a part of this month. Actually this was a new program for autism and they were the first class.

I have figured out what to get my son's teachers

Any ideas for a regular ed teacher? What are good ideas...I am so flopping in this area and I know I want to do something so nice for them because they have made such a difference in our lives.

    Thanks

When my son was in daycare, I got his caregivers Starbuck's gift cards. I know that's not very personal, but everyone seemed to like them a lot. And, I figured everyone likes Starbuck's. It fits into any special diet because you can get drinks that are sugar-free, fat-free, etc. Even if you don't like coffee, they have tea drinks now, dessert type drinks, baked goods, etc.

I'm going with a Barnes & Noble gift card too. Last year, I didn't know what to do and gave the teacher a VISA gift card so she could use it where she wanted. Including a card made by your child(ren) will make the gift extra special.

Something pampering is REALLY nice. How about a gift certificate for her to get a pedicure locally? I was a teacher for 13+ years and that would have gone over beautifully for me! Or a foot care kit from the Body Shoppe, teachers are on their feet ALL DAY LONG!

An office supply store gift certificate, because the teachers have to buy so many of their own supplies.
I owed a teacher a big favor, so I asked her relative what she could really use, and they said a gift certificate at the spa were she has her facials.
What I did for years, was ask the teacher if I could be in her class for a few mintues alone with the kids. Explaining it was for the purpose of a class gift.
I'd buy a plain canvas tote bag. I'd have the kids all write their names, notes whatever on a piece of paper. Then I'd have all the messages transfered over to the tote bag. In pre school, I did hand prints. But then I was just that kind of get involved Mommy. But now that I am a cat, a pretty purr has to suffice.
Scented candles are always nice if you are on a budget.

Beaches, I am a speech therapist and work with children with autism and other delays. The best gift any teacher can have is a personal note from a parent about the difference you have made in their child's (or their) life. The more specific, the better. There are notes I have saved for years. There are years when work was so awful, the administration so unsupportive, the paperwork and federal rules and regulations so nuts, the caseload so high that I swore I would leave and I clung to those notes like life preservers. And all the above suggestions sound great too, but it does not have to be anything monetary at all. It could be a certificate to come in and help pack up the room for the end of the year, etc.

                  Lou-Lou is absolutely correct.
I did special things for my son's 3 rd grade.
The teacher had all the kids in the class write me a thank you letter.
She had the notes bound for me.
                  It's a treasure, beyond belief.

I think an all expenses paid trip to anywhere in the world would be a lovely gesture.

I second the note and gift card ideas. My dad was a teacher for many years, and every year at Christmas and the end of the year he got coffee mugs, candy, and more aftershave than any human could wear in 10 years. So I have always written a note about what I have appreciated about the year, and the teacher, and given gift cards. I have used Starbucks, a local teacher supply place, massage certificates, and a fancy food grocery gift cards with great success. I think they were all appreciated and I felt good I wasn't contributing to someones clutter pile You might think about something like Harry and Davids fruit gifts, as well.
