A new goal!
Hi everyone!! I usually post on the Starting Out newbies thread. I joined MWO at the end of April and set myself the 30 day AF goal. Today is day 42, 6 weeks since I last had a drink! After talking things over with my husband, who also enjoys his wine but is quite happy with 2 or 3 glasses over the weekend - I decided to have my first glass tonight when we had a BBQ. I've been thinking about it for a couple of days. I think I've been scared of having that first drink in case....well, you know. Anyway, just had one small glass of red and made it last. Thats going to be it now until next weekend - my new goal!! I just cannot afford to get back into that daily drinking, that daily need. I hope I'm doing the right thing. Wish me luck!! A new goal!
Great job on the 42 days janice, and the plan to be AF on weekdays from here on in. Cassy invited me to join in with you,(thanks cassy) as this has been my first success-day 1 AF of my journey and is almost bed-time.My goal is only 1 btl of wine a wk, instead of my usual 7, so shall be AF until at least Fri. Best of luck to all.

A new goal!
:teeter: Hi Janice. I too have been AF for 116 days and made the concious decision to drink last Saturday. It was my 20th anniversary and I wanted to have some good champagne. I did well moderating, but feel a twinge of guilt that I broke my AF days. I have been going to an out patient rehab group that my insurance suggested, and they would call this a relapse. They preach complete abstinence and push AA constantly. I don't feel that it was a relapse, as I didn't drink alone or to get drunk which was my problem before. I don't intend to drink alone or during the weekdays at all, and If I do drink I want it to be a special occasion and set a limit at 3 drinks. I guess this is the scary part, seeing if you can do it. Moderation seems much harder that Abstinence. More to think about.
:teeter:AF again since 3/13/2014

Good luck Buddysmom - 116 AF days, well done!!! I know exactly what you mean, it is scary! - its such a big risk to take isn't it after all the hard work. I'm doing the same as you though - weekends only (just Sat & Sun), no drinking alone, red wine only (I was a white wine drinker), and no more than 2 glasses per evening. I am also going to try and leave it as late as possible before having that first drink. Keep in touch - it will be good for us both!! best wishes, JaniceAF since 9 May 2012
