Ditto Popeye, I found your post quite late i'm afraid.

Last year I drank so much on a day off that I texted a friend to collect my daughter from school, But my daughter told my hubby who instantly guessed why ............ Not good ..........

So many of us here have felt the desperation and despair that you know, and so many of us have worked hard and are now finding peace and brighter days in moderation or abstinence.
I've finally turned the corner, and one of the major realizations that made a huge difference for me was finally getting it that for every person who quit drinking, there was a day in their life that was their last drinking day. Something about that completely turned things around for me, and a couple days after that awareness, I had my last drinking day.

And you will too.

hi all, i used 2 have 2 get my neighbour to call me 2 wake me up, 2 get boy to school, an she give him a lift, i dont drive an good job i dont. i now im up at 1/2 six, enuf time 4 several coffes then my breakfast of beer, but hey hey soon i will b eating cornflakes not gluggin beer, i cant wait, ima u sound so different, i wish i cud c u smile ! x wake up, u sound like u really have woke up,u can do this as can i, im sure, hi betty, xxxx

I was once that little girl that was never picked up from after school activities,church choir practice, girl scouts...you get the picture. Now I'm the big girl replying to you because I wanted to cry when i read your post (if only tears would come anymore). The memories of my VERY dysfunctional childhood came rushing back to me. My mother, who was a lovely sober person, was a raging alcoholic. She drank herself to death at the age of 43. That time she didn't wake up. And just like the research says, now I have a drinking problem. Don't do this to yourself and PLEASE don't do it to your kids. And I will try with you as i have a 19 year old son who I love very much. We can do this. I will be rooting for you especially wakeupmom. The very best, dingo

Thanks guys, I really didn't exspect any more responces.Am overwhelmed again.This is such a lonlely place to be.I am doing all i can ,have orderd the rescue pack and CD's .Still can't beleive this is me .Do not recognise myself anymore.So pleased to meet you all,just wish we could all meet in person-Thanks wishing all lifes best xx
