    Newbie w/question

    Hi,

Just finished the book. Am going to buy the supplements and the CD. Are there any of you just doing the program with the supps and CDs? I ask because bringing up the subject of Topa with my doc scares me. To have alcoholism in my medical records and also based on some of the problems others here have had with insurance companies are two major reasons.

Just wondered how the supps on their own work at controlling cravings. I try and fail and try and then fail at stopping drinking mostly based on the fact that the cravings are some incredibly debilitating and distracting. So then I end up at the store. Again. I feel better that evening and then am disappointed and upset the next morning at my lack of resolve. I feel I could beat this if I could control the cravings long enough to change behavior and concentrate on a healthier lifestyle.

Just thought I would ask. Guess my lurking has officially ended. LOL

Have read about loads of people who have had success without the topa but I think they are the one who are AF, not sure how it works with moderating. The moderating did not work for me so I am starting the programme 1st September using just the supplements, cd's, these boards and hopefully some online counselling. Fed up feeling like this, am nearly 46 so need to get my act together. Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi Loohoo.......good to see you here.

I`ve just chalked up my first 30 Days AF stint.......Day 31 now.

I stopped drinking for the first 3 wks. with none of the meds or supps. I didn`t want to take any meds. I found that once I got through the actual withdrawal, I could manage the cravings...........for me, the cravings aren`t as strong as I had anticipated they would be, although they still tend to pop up out of the blue from time to time.

Have to say though, by the beginning of my 4th week of abs, I was constantly feeling drained and completely exhausted, so took the advice of the other members here, and got myself a range of vits and supps. I now really think that our bodies are ill due to excessive drinking and we have to start to repair some of the damage from the inside with the vits and supps.........only been taking them a week now, and already feel a good wee bit better.

Have no personal experience of the CD`s, other than the posts where other members have said they found them most helpful.

        Wishing you love and strength,

        Starlight Impress x

I too am doing this with no Meds and no CDs

I have taken Kudzu about 6 times when I had particularly bad cravings.

I also have started to take loads of vitamins and am feeling pretty good
(currently on day 42 AF (alcohol free))

Try it and see how it goes - you may find you do OK without the Meds.

          Love

            Hi Loohoo!

I started with the recommended supps, then just watched how I felt. I have dropped many of them now and just take a good multi, a b comples, the l-glut and keep the kudzu around for those nights I know I will go out or have a craving night... I think it is good to start with the recommended supplements in the beginning...

            Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for replying. I am choosing abstinence. I knew that going in, not that moderation wouldn't be lovely. It's just that I know myself to well and for me that would be like playing with fire followed by incineration. My hubby and I (what a great guy!) talked about this (again) last night and I told him I was thinking that at this point I was going to try the supplements, exercise because boy could I use me some of that! ;-) And also a hypnosis CD I already have that is specific to me that I got locally. And I think also very important for me will be this community. Look at all the support I got just since last night at 10:30 or so my time (Pacific)! Amazing.

Kudos to all of us for being here and good luck to us too!

Thanks again guys. I'll be around. Headed out for my blood work before my annual physical. Oh joy!:thanks:

                  Welcome LooHoo

Glad to have you here. I also quit with no supplements or CD's. I do have a bottle of Kudzu, but haven't even cracked the seal on it. I just have it as my ace in the hole in case I have a craving I can shake off - but so far so good. I am now on 41 days AF, and can say for sure that I never would have done it without the support of everybody at MWO.

Good luck to you, and :welcome:

Man, you guys are awesome. Had my blood work done today with results tommorow afternoon. Must admit some anxiety with waiting for the results. Hope all functions (especially liver) are fine. Having said that I am moving forward. I ordered the Starter Pack of supps and also the L-glutamine. I am assuming the L-glut will come with instructions as to dosages. I already have the book and it's outline for the other supps. Does anyone know if I should continue to take my regular multivitamin with the All One or is that sufficient and I can bag my generic women's daily? Just curious. I will check labels when it comes.

Thanks to all. I am not picking a starting date until I have the supps. I would be lying if I said tomorrow. But I WILL when they are here. I'm ready. Oh man, this is a bit scary isn't it? I DO NOT WANT TO FAIL. That is huge. And I feel small in it's magnitude. Silly I know. But still true.

                    Thanks again.h

                      Hi LooHoo and Welcome,

The All-One covers all of your multivitamin needs so you do not need to take another pill.

You sound very determined. Best of luck!!
