I'll try to make this short :-)

I should have introduced myself here before I posted on other threads but I didn't notice this until just now. I have been a pretty heavy drinker on and off since about 18 - I'm 41 now. My drinking has gotten progressively worse since my oldest son went off to college two years ago. Up until 3 days ago I was up to two bottles of wine a day. I was a happy, fun drunk that everyone loved to be around which made it even worse because no one but me saw the problem. They didn't see me in the morning suffering from the depression and the humiliation that I felt. Even the DUI I got last year didn't slow me down - it just added to the depression.

I used to tell myself that wine made me happy. I realize now that wine makes me numb and I don't want that anymore. I want to feel life - every part of it.

This is the strongest I've felt in a very long time and I owe it to all of you - so thank you.

    Day three and counting......
