      Welcome

      Hi one of 7,
:welcome: You are not alone. Not in favour of tough love especially when we don?t know if this will tip someone over the edge. So please don?t beat yourself up either. We are all on this site due to problems with alcohol. It?s ok to hold back and wait until you feel more comfortable. So keep reading, posting and maybe download the book, you may also need some supps as alcohol leaches out a lot of nutrients. Kind regards Aunty Vic

        Open arms

Welcome 1 of 7 - You caught my attention - as I'm from a family - one of seven! :h
I can tell you that when the drama begins - my tendency is to run also. I hate drama. Not because I don't like drama - but because I hate stupidity. But what is stupid to one is a life draining to another - so I am here reaching out to someone who is really in need - you.

I think all of the drama - because there are about to be break through's - you can be one. You are in the right place at the right time. Stop drinking. Period. Start taking the supplements. Start getting rest and exercise. Start reading here. Let other peoples mistakes be your learning ground. You can abstain from alcohol if you choose. You can moderate after you abstain awhile if you choose that later - but for now - get the poison out!

We are here to support you! Welcome - with big open arms

AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice, you made it now.

          Welcome 1 o 7.... hey, that could almost be l o L (lol) ?!? :H

It took a boatload of courage to post about your drinking patterns-
Thank you for being honest with yourself.... Being honest with myself is my personal challenge, that's for sure (I can convince myself of anything that I want to....) !!

Tough love? Well, people here can try that approach, but the best wakeup call for me happened when I "slapped myself" across the face with the cold, hard truth.
Is your worst critic you, too? :l
The funniest word on this forum is "NORMAL".... because we come from all parts of the world, and even if we were all living in the same cocoon, there really is no "Normal" anywhere.... ! Being here has really helped me grow~ not only as a person, but as a wife, a mom, and as a friend.

I look forward to learning more about you, lol! Have a great Sunday,

            To courageous 1 of 7:

            :welcome:
This group has helped me cut way back on my alcohol intake. I hope to go AF eventually, and I continue to be encouraged by those who have gotten their health back. Realize that not everyone on here has met their goal perfectly. Some are pleased to at least be on the journey.
In your threads I hear self-disgust and self-loathing. Remember that alcoholism is truly a disease, not a character flaw. It is just as debilitating as any other addiction, it is not a chosen "habit" and no one starts out with their first drink gleefully stating, "I'm gonna be an addict starting right now!" Even if you have one less drink than is custom, that is something to make note of. If you go 2 less drinks the next day, that is noteworthy, too. If you don't drink until you vomit, that is a milestone. If you wait 'til noon instead of 7am, pat yourself on the back. Every step will help you get where you want to be. Listen to these folk, make sure you drink water and keep your nutrition up during your struggle. I know that just checking in helps me stay the course. Every step toward getting healthier counts. And be gentle if you slip. I haven't met anyone who can walk on water yet. :l
