    My series of unfortunate events....

    Thanks for the story Patty.

They say be careful for what you wish for, but your Sergeant would come in handy at those moments when I get the crazy urge of "wouldn't it be fun to try just one drink"...

      Funny Story!

      Patty

Great story! I don't think I mentioned it but my daughter is a Marine as well as my husband is still Active duty. I am just thankful that she in not following my footsteps with my drinking behaviors. She hates it, especially the moment when I start to slur...so I escape to my room and shut myself off from my family, who mean the most to me. Amazing how one thought leads to another. Oh yes, I finally got to sleep at 0400AM and up at 0700! Feeling great today!

Hey JB, thanks for sharing your most interesting life. I look forward to the book and then the movie. There was a post a while back about gastiric bypass and drinking. I looked it up for you. You might want to read what others here have experienced.

          My series of unfortunate events....

          JB,

Just wanted to add my :welcome:

I have a dad who went to the Naval Academy, oldest brother who went to the Air Force Academy, and middle brother who went to West Point.

When I was looking at colleges was the first year they were allowing women into the Academies. They all wanted me to go to the Coast Guard Academy!! Just so we would have all covered. I gracefully declined. After going to 13 different schools, I was ready to settle down a bit.

Got married and a year later he joined the army.

However, one thing you and I do have in common is gastric bypass surgery. Lots of us GP patients become alcoholics. It is EXTREMELEY dangerous for us to boot!!

I am glad you are here and wish for you the very best in finding your way out of this horrible (fill in the blank) there are a lot of PC issues that raise the ire of folks here if we call it a disease. I don't care what we call it, I just want to kick it's ass!!

                My series of unfortunate events....

                JB,

Since my hubby was an air defense artillery guy, the 4th of July is pretty expensive around here. He gets his stuff directly from a factory that makes them about 10 miles away.

We have a long 2x10 board with the artillery tubes screwed into it and he uses a long fuse to light them off. (I can't remember what you call the stuff but it is just a long fuse.)

It is pretty amazing to watch 10 artillery shells (the fire works kind) go off simultaneously.

Every year I pray no one gets hurt.

I will do a Roman candle but that's about it. Oh and sparklers. :H

This year I will be watching the whole thing SOBER!! That is what is most amazing.

We are pretty famous here on the 4th and New Years. Or infamous, not sure which.
