For whatever reasons, I do this to myself almost daily and have since I was 12 - almost 30 years. I long for sobriety, but honestly have no clue how to get there.

My story
I took my first drink, well, about 8 beers, when I was 12. 12, it is hard to believe it when I say it. 12. I am now 41. I hate being a drunk. I hate that I brought my children into my hell. I hate that my grandchildren see it. I have tried to quit, but just cannot fight the craving. I am so sick today from drinking 2 margaritas plus a bottle of wine last night. I did that because I am upset with my husband at the moment.
For whatever reasons, I do this to myself almost daily and have since I was 12 - almost 30 years. I long for sobriety, but honestly have no clue how to get there.":welcome:"Tags: None

My story
Hello Gourmet,
I love your name as I love to cook, eat and drink! You have come to the right place to begin your journey. The help and support here is wonderful and endless. Quitting is quite simple and "easy" as 1, 2, 3...
1. Get rid of the booze.
2. Read - Read the book here by Roberta which is chock full of tips, remedies and help for the soul, and do read about others here that have come before you. It will hit close to home I'm sure.
3. Surrender. Surrender to the task at hand as this will help you to acknowledge and eliminate many of the obstacles that are in place or that will come into play as you try and make the changes necessary to help you with your struggles with AL.
An by all means, stay here and please let us know how you are doing and how we may help you. Sharing is good. I wish you the best.

My story
I never thought I would ever do more that 2 days af when I joined here January 2007. It's taken me dozens and dozens of attempts but finally I can now say I have not had a drop of alcohol for 92 days!! am gobsmacked! all I can say is keep coming here, keep actively reading and lurking. Yes, you will keep making mistakes but all the time you are here you are reinforcing your desire to stop the mental torture. Try AA, not for everyone I know but just take what you need from it and leave the rest. Also seek support from your GP.. it's what they are there for. you are amongst friends. It will sink in. best of luck to you XSometimes the only way to stay sane is to go a little crazy
