    Time to sort this out

I gave up smoking five years ago and was supported enormously by a support website but my other problem was always drinking always more than the limit and usually too much. I'd drink myself unconscious about once a month.

So I got a job in Saudi - and did so accepting that I'd just have to stop boozing and that was all there was to it. So I did and got on with my job and did well and saved a ton of money. But I did drink when I went back home.

One day I met a new bloke in the company - a nice guy but he was debauched. I went to his house and he started drinking - and I had a few but I vowed it would end there. Anyway something must have stuck in his mind because we went on a business trip together - and we drank and he asked me a question about the company which only I could tell him.

Later on he reported me for this and I was fired. So it is true that you lose your job as a result of drinking.

Now I have to start again but last week I went home and stayed in a hotel and drank myself unconscious. So with a couple of years not drinking anything to back to square one - I'm bothered.

I'm now in my last week of Saudi - on my way out and need to take my abstinence back with me or I'll lose the rest as well as the job.

I remember the support I got when I gave up smoking - and hopefully gave back too so I look forward to this as well.

My story is not as bad as some but it is mine and I'm going to cut out the drinking forever. And that's all there is to it.

    Hey Allen!

And a welcome here also! Sounds like this site might be a really good fit for you too - so glad you jumped in. I say that because it is a very self-directed program with lots of tools and good support and you sound like the kind of guy who can grab hold and make it work.

"loose lips" (and so may other "lapses in judgement") when I've had a few is always a disaster - SO sorry that this circumstance had such enormous consequences for you this time around. Can't imagine how you must feel right now.

But...... I have yet to meet one friend who gave up drinking (or gave it up again) when things were "fine" :bang . Seems to be how it goes. I'm back to 8 months or so without a drink now - and the old good sober 'vibes' are back and life is looking pretty good. You'll have the same in short order!

Keep reading and posting and let us know what we can do to help.

Look forward to getting to know you better!

    WW
