My Story, and I need HELP

Hi, I am a 55 year old man, married for 34 years my wife suffers from a mental health problem that manifests it self in that she continuously thinks I am unfaithful, she believes that relatives that are dead live, and relatives that live are not as they seem.
I can not cope with this and in the last few years have resorted to alcohol as my crutch, the NHS is of little help, my wife has stabbed me twice I had to have her sectioned under the mental health act but unfortunately our NHS believes that care starts at home, and I CAN NOT COPE.
I drink an average of 12 lts of wine per week plus the odd beer or two, I know I put my health at risk, I just need some help.

Any one out there able to offer some advice??

Hi Silverdel. It must be tough for you, mental illness in a relative so close to you must be devastating. Keep coming to this site and learn about the program to quit drinking, you will find a lot of support here and in time you will start to feel stronger and able to cope with what life throws at you one day at a time.

My Story, and I need HELP

Siver, I work with individuals with mental and developmental disabilities. The first thing that I can say is to reiterate that you should abstain from al if possible. So many questions...how long have you dealt with this illness? What is diagnosis? Patterns? Triggers? Hang in there...you can make a difference/
        Hope :h

Silver: I too think that if you can stop drinking, some strategies regarding your wife's illness might come to you. At the very least, you could be more persistent w/the NHS. Consider you health as well.
