    Athiest Looking for Help

Loud Goat LS2;740500 wrote: Just wanted to give everybody an update. I've been sober for 31 days, and the last month or 2 on Naltrexone I did not really even want to drink nor did I have a good time when I did drink since I was not getting any endorphins from it. Looking back on my first post of this thread, I can't believe how I started in such a completely helpless state and now feel completely empowered as I now longer have any desire to drink. So for those of you out there who do not want to feel "powerless" over alcohol, surrender to a "higher power," "God," Santa Clause or the Tooth Fairy, don't want to spend $20,000 for detox and rehab that doesn't work, and don't want to sit around a cicle of a bunch of people with broken lives that are constantly crying and relapsing, then Naltrexone is for you. Take it an hour before you drink, and in 3-5 months you'll be able to move on with your life without alcohol. No god, no $, no BS.

Your experience and insight are meaningful and it's great that you share that.

I happen to think your journey, and your ability and willingness to share and care, exhibits a kind of human-ness that approximates some of my views on spirituality ... a base core of common ground or mostly held views -- necessarily filtered through humans and human experience.

If you are looking for good, and betterment, and connecting with others either directly or by way of example ... then that to me is evidence of a higher something.

Great for you to share your experience(s) here.

    Thank you.

IMHO, Loud, you've found your higher power in yourself - the thing that works for you and DOES empower you to be the person you want to be. Your progress is a great inspiration. Thank you for sharing, and the best to you on your journey.

Though a believer through my own experience, I think the Sinclair Method will work for you. When asked, "Does the Sinclair Method require in depth councelling to get cured?" Dr. Sinclair replied, "those rats never listened to a word I said and 100% of them got cured."

        Cheers!

1 year now since my "last drink" after completing the Sinclair method. Had a few drinks here and there to see if it had any effect on me. I can't even finish a beer now.... doesn't taste right. I never thought quitting drinking for a year would be so easy
