    No More Tomorrows

I have been a heavy drinker for 12 years and knew I didn't have a problem. The only problem was the empty last bottle and it still wasn't pay day. I have made a discison today that I am not going to drink any more. I don't know how to pull this off and there's still a part bottle of rum in the cupboard. I always wait until tomorrow to give up, or when this bottle is empty. Tomorrow never comes. I have got onto this sight as then I have someone to shre my story with. You know how difficult it is. I don't like going without a drink and even left work to go to the local mall and could have quite easily shot home for a glass or two. i want to be me and deal with what life brings without the need of a bottle. I find that sometimes I drink and can't remember what I did or said. Enough is enough. No more tomorrows, I am stopping from Now.

    Carroll,
Are you ready to dump the rest of that rum down the drain? It is a very liberating feeleing to do this. The alcohol would be of much better use there than in your body.

Welcome, there is a great group of very supportive people here, from all walks of life.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Welcome! Your story is very familiar to many, many here. You're right. Tomorrow never comes. Maybe that's why so many of us take this effort to be AF (alcohol free) ODAT (One Day at A TIME). I'm not telling you it will be easy, but it is doable. I'm in the beginning of my journey. I've had many false starts, but I am making progress. You can too!

When I first started this process, I felt the same and did similar things. But now I'm beginning to appreciate the gift of being clear headed and present in my life! I'm beginning to see how much alc actually harmed me and depressed me. But, you have to get some distance from it before you appreciate that.

Stay close to the site, do lots of reading and get some resolve!

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Caroll, so much of what you said rings true to me, espiecially the not knowing what you have said or done when drunk. I am pretty new to all of this too, but the only way I can not drink is to not have alcohol in the house. Pour the rum down the sink, its very empowering! Good luck
