    Cacky- My story

    Hi Cacky,
I find this site such a comfort. Thanks for sharing your story, this site has been a life saver for me. It's no use beating ourselves up about what we said and did while drunk - although I am very remorseful about my children. And regretting that I still have not beaten the beast. But I will keep on hoping. Stay in touch. I also want to try Baclofen, must find out how to get hold of it.
    Take care.

Geico you are so right - NOTHING sexy about alcohol abuse. I occasionally get insight into the male mind by reading Men's Health. One segment was on what most men consider the most important body part in attraction. All of us women thought that of course it was the face. But no - the opposite - it's the derriere! Evolutionists would argue that strength and endurance in the lower body of women indicates a good ability to carry babies, groceries, nappies, and water all at the same time for miles and miles at a rate of 10 km/hour, which means that caveman's offspring is more likely to survive. Since I have had a strong lower body, naturally I love this idea, ha ha.

Alcohol abuse is maybe a modern marker for attractiveness in an offspring-bearing mate. Interestingly, the AL problems seem to occur in women past child bearing age or desire - nature or nurture? So we get the AL problem and become un-sexy after breeding. Actually, even without an AL problem we get un-sexy after breeding. So we women get shafted coming and going. But, then, the natural biology of men is to spread their seed around, so they move on to younger chickens.

However, if you are an heiress, or a princess, or Carla Bruni, you might have a hanger-on, if you consider Sarko a hanger-on. Frankly the man does nothing for me, and their relationship reminds me of a line from Barbarians at the Gate, I think, which says, 'you gotta make sure the screwing you are getting is worth the screwing you're getting."

As I am not a princess, an heiress, or Carla Bruni, as my gynie says we just have to fight to keep what we have.

            With humor,
            Tulipe

                Cacky,
Your story was very brave. I have yet to get up the gutts to expose my story like that. Mine isn't interesting or sexy, either...there is no excuse I can point to and say "that's why she became a drunk." You have been terrifically kind to me since I joined June 1. I think the best of you, and know we are connected in some way. It's brave of you to admit your suicide attempt...as that's the point I was SO CLOSE TO just last Monday. (I can't believe I felt that bad one week ago.) Even though it wasn't a sober seven days (I ended up drinking on two of them) I know I'm on the right track. I did finally see a counselor last Friday; it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting; I bawled my eyes out, but I can see that the experience will most likely be a positve one.

Please know that your story may not be "sexy" but it is important, and it touched me deeply. Thank you.

The wife of the President of France, Nicholas Sarkozy. After becoming President, his wife of many years, Cecelia, divorced him. In short order, he married Carla, a former model, ex-girlfriend of Mick Jaggar, and creator of a somewhat popular cd. Carla always said she didn't believe in marriage, although I guess the prospect of becoming 1st lady of France was too enticing. I guess, in my wildly imaginative mind, that they were fixed up by one of these dating services which charges thousands to meet heiresses and stuff, since as Le President he has to have an appropriate escort. Word on the street is that they were married in short order because the King of Saudi Arabia wouldn't let her into the country unless they were married.

                    Here is her Wiki entry:

                    Enjoy!

                          Hi Cacky

Thank you for bravely sharing your story.

Theres nothing sexy about me at 56 years old!

I once got to the point where I could go to a pub and just drink soda and lime, I would watch the drunken women and there was nothing sexy or exciting about them throwing themselves at men!

I don't feel strong enough to go to a pub at the moment and not drink but hope to reach this stage again as I like live music.

All the best and thanks again.
