    Binge no More

I have been separated from my second husband for 5 years now, but he was an alcoholic and would put me down and intimidate me in front of all his friends. The only way I could cope with this relentless treatment was to drink as well, but unfortunately I could not keep up with him and I would drink my self unconscious. I didnt drink every day like he did, but when we would go out, I would start drinking and couldn't stop. Each time I drank myself into a coma, I would swear never to do it again, but it has been happening now for a number of years, even though am I no longer with him, and I want it to stop. My daughter has witnessed me do this on a number of occassions and has expressed her concern, which brings me to this website to see if anyone else in my aged group has this kind of problem, because when I search binge drinking on the net, all the websites focus mainly of young binge drinkers, not people over 25.

      Hi there Dark

Welcome to the site. As Beaches says there is someone of every age, drinking background, profession, country etc here. You name it, this site can cater for it. I am really pleased you have found us. It will depend where you are starting from and what you want to get to as to where you slot in the best, but I think every thread is helpful in some way to all of us. You may already know there are those that seek to moderate but most that seek to be AF longterm and everything in between. A good starting place night be monthly adstinence, where you will get support from people doing an inital AF stint. OR there is an excellent weekend thread for binge drinkers if the weekend is your hard time.. it was mine.

You have made a major first step in find the site and another in posting,. You will find your own way with the site, but check out things like drink tracker ( i love this, but maybe not for all). There is lots of information about suppliements that can assist a lot and information about diet and exercise to assist.

I hope you will keep posting, stay close and let us help you to help yourself be who you want to be.

I also found keep a diary, journal, bloggy thing really helpful. I did it on here so that it is part of what I do here.

Good luck stay close ( you can PM me anytime if you want to chat to an older (34) person who appreciates the world of the "not every day, but binge drinker")!

Welcome dark! I wish you great success, it's a tough road but well worth it. Have you ordered or downloaded RJ's book? That would be a good start for you as you familiarize yourself with the site. Look forward to seeing you around!

            Hi Darknight,
I'm 43 with two young girls. I will start with you today! Ihave been going to bed drunk everynight and blame it on being in a funk when deep down I know the funk is created by the alcohol. I need to change, for my girls, for my health, for my sanity
