    Grim's story

    Hi Grim,
Reading your story brought tears to my eyes. Your dad reminds me of my dad, he used a leather belt or a wooden stick and had a very aggressive temper he was very out of control with the drink or without. I felt good when i put my story in black and white it was hard but it help me to put it behind me.
Like you said your free now just keep looking forward, that little boy has grown into a strong person.

    Thanx for sharing your story.x

        Grim's story

Oh Grim, what a dreadful experience for you and your family. You've been the protector, of your siblings growing up and then dealing with your mother's death. We are all here to learn and grow, and some of us have accepted greater challenges than others, you are not responsible for others, none of us are even though we wish to protect those we love and save them from hurt and harm.

In time the images will fade, the first few lines of a poem by Henry Scott-Thomas say this:

        Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
        That we are still

Forgive yourself, and know that you are a stonger more compassionate person as a result of your experiences.
I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.

Hi Grim, what an awful tragedy. You are a special person for protecting your family the way you did.

              Grim,

what a tragic tale. Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful woman and you must have gotten your strength from her.

thank you for sharing your story. I hope that by doing so it lifted your sadness even a little bit.

                Grim's story

                Grimmy, my friend

Guys are allowed to hug, right? ((((Grim))))

I met you a while back on the Army Thread, but only saw your story today.

I stand in awe at what you have accomplished given what you have been through. The fact that you're living so positively, and living life to the full is testament to incredible inner strength.

Having interacted with you on the Army Thread, in a "social" environment where you have shown yourself to be humble, respectful of others and incredibly supportive of people like myself, I can only say that my respect for you has increased tenfold.

I am glad to know you, and now looking forward even more to meeting you in person!
                I'll do whatever it takes

Hi Grimmers - I really don't know what to say apart from "you rock". When I read stories like yours and Tips I feel incredibly pathetic for being an alcoholic when I have not have any devastation in my life.
                      You are an inspiration
