    Maybe I do have some issues

    As a I get older im realizing that im a binger (if thats even a word)
    I am a party animal and have been since i was 15 or so, its getting kinda old now.
    (im turning 30 in a few months)
    Im realizing that its just not "cool" to get smashed 2 or 3 times a week anymore.

    Im not into jesus or twelve steps so I thought i'd stop in here and say hi and ask a few questions.

    If i dont like drinking very much, why do I do it?
    Why cant I have just one or two drinks?

    and most importantly, I'd like to stay sober for 30 days..... So how do I get started?

        You sound just like me and I have stopped for 104 days. First and foremost! Do not have any alcohol in the house. YOU can stop.

          To get started, have a reason to stop. Keep to that reason. Make a date. Keep to that date. Tell yourself you can have a drink TOMORROW. Just get through today without having one. Tomorrows turn into other tomorrows. I am here for you. Everyone is here for you. Keep posting and reading. You will find your way.

            Thanks. I think I can do this, but I've thought I could do this before and it obviously didn't work.

                The reason I ask this is there are a number of threads you can get in with. Don't worry about the seemingly "everyone knows everyone" attitude about them. You will be welcomed. Join in on The Next Day (Australian timezone), The Army, Newbies Nest.

                    Hi osoboy and welcome! Well done on seeking help! :goodjob:

                    You can start by downloading the MWO book and reading it. Look at the Health Store at the top of this page. $12 I think. Take a read around the threads and jump in whereever you feel comfortable. There is the Newbies Nest and ODAT (one day at a time) in the Just Starting Out section. Read and ask questions and develop a plan to follow for yourself.

                      Alcohol has a habit of creeping up on us and before we realise it, it has become a big problem. It is highly addictive to some people and the problem gets progressively worse, untreated as the years go by as I am sure many here will testify to. The good news is that you have seen that it is becoming a problem and decided to take action now, because you CAN change your life around. Good advise given by greeneyes re the book, posts to check out and getting a plan.

                        Hi Osoboy and welcome...surf around and find a spot that feels comfy.....definately get the book and then the supplements to heal your body and help fight cravings....and remember we are all here for you...nothing tobe ashamed of and we have all been there....done that.....
                        I love my family more than alcohol.:h

                          THanks!!!!

                          Day 4, and Ive found that simple juice / soda mixture and checking in here and reading seems to help alot with the cravings im getting.
                          I've done some reading and read that after 21 days it becomes habit, soo thats my goal 21 days no beers. Then hopefully I can contain this to special occasions only.

                          Carbonation and a little bit of support works wonders!!

                          Off to the ODAT section I go
