    SC's story...Reader's Digest version

Unwasted;1190169 wrote: SC, I found quite a few books on Amazon that look good (highly rated by people who have read them). I don't want you to spend a lot of time on it, so don't worry -- thought you might just have some titles that you already knew. Sounds like there's a lot of good stuff out there. I'm so glad you mentioned the subject - I'm looking forward to learning more.

    Have a super day.
I forgot the name of the first book I used, obviously hypnosis didn't make my memory better.

SC -- great explanation regarding hypnosis and I loved the way you explained how you visualized urine as booze.
Thank you windy! I appreciate it.

Bruunhilde;1190900 wrote: Congrats Super, these are all good ideas and a great testimonial. All the positive thinking, hitting bottom twice, remembering the good and teaching your subconscious - I go to a hypnotherapist and she talks to me - like a therapist, its very healing - to get at what we want to accomplish in the customized session. I bought four sessions for $75/each and she gave me a CD of each to reuse the session over and over. I also have the MWO CDs, somewhere. But the biggest of these is the action you cite, ACTION and training your mind. Thoughts become actions. Thanks for your story. Continued success to you and lots of love in your life. I need a wife like that.
Thanks for the reminder Bruun! For me to stay sober and happy, daily action has been the key. For some reason people with drinking problems tend to have short memories. If you are taking daily positive action it makes it easy to remember why we are going to stay sober today.

SC Thanks for the testimony. It really helped me today and I'll probably read it over and over again. I'm in the trap and getting out today. I'm sick of my life and times being dictated to by urine....... er ethanol.

You can do it! Believe it or not it's as easy as just not drinking right now. Let me know if I can help. It's one of those tasks that seems very hard, but the further you get into it the easier it gets.

The saying that I still have posted over my computer reads, "there are no reasons to drink, only excuses". I used to look at that message 100 times a day when I first quit, and now I don't even see it there half time, because I don't drink anymore and I seldom think about it. Good luck!

Superscrew, just wanted to let you know that you are a great addition to MWO. You have obviously done a lot of research and reflection to get to where you are today. Your philosophy seems to mirror a lot of what Jason Vales, Kick the Drink book does. I have read your posts from the start; a lot of good advice from someone who knows - just a wee thank you.

SC, I can see how you would be a great life coach/mentor/motivator. You have rock solid good sense and a way of putting things that really resonates with me (and others here). Just the littlest tips you've written about, your stories, a few catch phrases here and there......very good advice and well put. Thanks for your help!

Thanks again, You all are too kind!!

UW it's kind of funny seeing the transformation in myself over the last year. Prior to becoming sober I was a very depressed person, and people had openly told me that I was a very negative person to be around. I was always in a bad mood even prior to when I became a daily drinker, but now I am sober the depression lifted for me and the days seem so much brighter and the opportunities for happiness seem endless. Sure I still have bad days now and again, but living life sober after believing my life was just a constant reason to get drunk has made all the difference. Once I realized that when i am sober I get to decide how I feel, I decided happy and motivated was my best choice.
                  Thanks again!!

SC, you are truly and inspiration. And, I was the same way as what you describe - always down, tired, in a bad mood -- very erratic overall. Now I'm even-tempered and happy to be alive. My husband tells me I'm a different person, and I feel that's true. Now that I'm not battling a hangover every morning because I've slept well, I wake up looking forward to the day. Before it was drudgery - I used to almost feel like I had an illness like the flu because the alcohol would disturb my sleep so dramatically,

I still marvel at just how negatively alcohol was affecting my life. And, to think I didn't know it for all those years -- seems crazy, really. But, once we figure it out we're hooked and it takes some undoing of that mental grasp it has on us to stop.

Anyway, even though I feel very solid in my sobriety, it helps me tremendously to read your posts. I hope you'll stick around for as long as you can. If you're helping me, I know you're doing the same for others who are still struggling to quit. So, you can feel really good about that and know that you're "giving back" something very important!

I just wanted to say bravo to you Super, what an insprational story to share with us! I am so glad I read this today...I haven't been doing that well recently, but your post has inspired me to start the Vale book which I ordered thanks to Unwasted. It arrived on Saturday.

I think the most heartening thing about your story is the fact that you conquered this your way, and the things you did worked for you. I love the 'warm urine' comparison, and I am sure many of us will be adopting that one! So glad to log in here this morning and read this, thank you very much for sharing with us! :thanks:

                          Thank you again everyone!

A little question for the day, "Did you need alcohol or even think about it before you ever tried it?"

Speaking for me, I lived just fine without it for over 1/3 of my life, so why should I need it now? My answer is "I don't". Don't let your mind tell you that you do....it's just a lie.

                                hypnosis

I enjoyed reading your story Supercrew. You seem like a real individual. Appreciate your honesty and intelligence.

I thought what you and others said about hypnosis was interesting. I just started hypnotherapy with a professional. MWO has hypnosis CDs and they did not work for me. I think it's because hypotherapy needs to be angled at the individual, in terms of what words, themes, images work for them. Hypnotherapy is fascinating and with a live person is very different. I encourage people who think it would work for them to try it at least.

Good luck but it sounds like you know what you are doing.
