    My Story By Kairos

I wonder if the only 'test' is if you will be able to stand the beauty of it all. Look around while you are there. You will be able to see clearly instead of thru a drunken haze.

    Expect to be dazzled.

When was I last sober boarding a flight? Can't remember. When was I last sober in a hotel dining room? Can't remember. When was I last sober by a poolside? Can't remember. So yes, many triggers and much resolve needed but I'm up to it.
Since coming off AL and all things sugary, I am beginning to feel much better and my sleeping patterns are gradually improving whch makes such a difference to a sense of wellbeing.
    I WANT THIS!!
No doubt there will be times during the vacation when I want to punch the nearest object very hard. I just hope it aint my other half!!!!!

I will need the support of my friends on MWO so I'll be posting whenever I get access to the net!

      Kairos,

NewOne has made a very relevant point. During the vacation, don't looking at non-drinking as deprivation. Instead, stay focused on the fact that you will be having more energy to be fully present and engaged, giving more depth and intensity to your experiences.

Also, coming unscathed from this trial will do wonders to your resolve and self-confidence.

      Have a great vacation!

Glad I . found free WiFi on vacation. I need now to remind myself why I want to stop drinking as it would be so easy today to relax and pretend my problem has gone away. I need to be very careful in the next few days with so many cocktails around but I'm doing ok so far

                  My Story By Kairos

                  Hi everyone,
Just got to a computer (with a keyboard) which makes a big difference!!!! -so i can post an update today. Doing fine. My husband is in awe of my resolve on holiday as it really is a temptation to indulge when I?m relaxed - but I have still not lost my memories of drinking wine followed by terrible sleep patterns, waking up all over the place feeling anxiety, guilt etc all the nasty feelings that have faded into the background in the sobriety I?m enjoying. I do seem to be enjoying it as I am definitely sleeping better and hubby says looking fresher especially in the whites of the eyes department.
He is drinking half a bottle of wine every evening but I am coping beautifully with that just drinking water. Just occasionally I suffer a little flutter of fear that I can never really drink safely again and have to take a deep breath but with each day comes a little more surrender and peace.
After the vacation I look forward to a new life and getting fitter- cuz I sure as hell aint stopped eating for the ?next two weeks!!!!
Take care all, thanks for the good wishes and keep up the good work.

))Looking go a little sympathy and understanding!
After all my good work being AF on holiday I find myself in my room today with heat exhaustion.
I used to blame this on overindulgence in the AL dept. but obviously not.
Even though I drink a lot of water I seem to be very susceptible. Is it possible that my al habit in the past has made me low in minerals or caused some kind of unbalance of some kind?

Kairos, while 30 days is a huge huge achievement, it's possible your body is still adjusting. Take care of your self. Drink things that boost electrolytes, like Gatorade, or maybe even pedialyte. Have you seen a doctor? Where are you that it's that hot? I'm so jealous...
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

Firstly, congratulations on hitting the thirty day sobriety mark. Be proud of yourself. You have shown great determination.

Sorry to hear about your trouble, Kairos. Heat exhaustion can be very distressing. Take lots of fluids and its a good idea to visit your doctor.

Do realize that had you been drinking, the problem could have been even worse. Your recovery will be far faster now.

My best wishes. And shall be looking for updates.

Once again, hearty congratulations on your sobriety. :goodjob:

Thanks for the replies and good wishes. I am feeling a bit better now but really feel too much sun was the trouble. I do believe my body is healing after so many years of sleep deprivation too . Also can't believe how much sleep I'm taking and how early I'm going to bed pooped! Anyway I seem to have more energy today for day 33 if my new life free of booze! Feeling happy about that. Good wishes to my fellow abstainers.
