Glutamine feedback
I am new here, I have an alcohol addiction, like many others here. I have been doing research on alcohol addiction and pulled out one of my old books, which was the Complete Encyclopedia of Natural Healing. I looked up alcoholism. Of course it mentioned AA, which I did before after a DUI years ago, and many friends of mine benefited from AA, but I did not, but did for a short time. To make a long story short, I am 42 years old, divorced, no children or no family. I work full time and take care of myself, but I should be doing better at that, cause when I come home from work I want to drink, ughh, do it everyday But don't over do it, cause I am responsible and have to pay my bills and take care of my old cats, lol . But when I wake up in the morning, I tell myself I won't do that, but when I come home my mind is totally different. I hate it. But on the flip side I heard about the amino acid glutamine through the book I was reading. I understand addictions all stem from the brain, then they actually make your body feel like crap, as well as your mind. So did anyone try Glutamine for alcohol addiction and does it help?Tags: None

Oh Shell!! I think you'll get lots of responses! I think lots of people rely on Glut and Kudzu to control cravings. Go for it. But this is a disease you need many weapons to fight. See your doctor and come clean about your alcohol use. Your doc might prescribe meds. use other supplements, too. Eat well and often. Milk Thistle, B vitamins, multivitamins, etc. Drink lots of water - with lemon.
Best of luck to you.Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

Thank you for your feedback. I do everything you mentioned, except trying the glutamine. I have Kudzu, but have not been taking it. Unfortunately, I am still drinking and looking for a way out, that's why I joined this forum. Just really confused and scared right now. When I took that first drink as a teenager, never thought in a million years that I would become addicted to it over time. The only time I don't drink is when I work, which is my "happy place". ......I lost my health insurance a few months ago due to a divorce, so can't afford to see a doctor, but did apply for benefits last week, waiting for a response............I would LOVE to live my life without alcohol, cause that crap got the best of me right now, which brings out the worst of me

Welcome, Shell:welcome:
Click on the Meds Forum....and a list of threads will pop up....with the title of each one. At the bottom of the page....you will see the number of pages of threads in that forum. Sift through there and I know you will see threads started by people who use L-Glut for AL and sugar cravings. Those threads also have recommended dosages. I've tried it and it does work to a point to control cravings....although it has been a long time since I've used it.
:goodjob: for recognizing you have a problem and want to address it.

Welcome to MWO Shell. Glutamine helped me a lot when I first quit. I'd take 1000mg when I woke up in the morning, around lunch, around 5pm, then around 8pm. Others here have different routines and amounts taken, but it did help me get through some cravings. It's also supposed to be good for food cravings too, but that really wasn't my focus.

Hi Shell and Welcome, :welcome:
Have you dwnloaded The MWO book and RJ's Suppliment guide? Also the hypno CD's...
This plan helped me immensely my first few months of leaving AL behind and getting myself back. GLUT is a big part of controlling cavings for me now though originally I used the topamax in connection with the Supps.
You have landed in a terrific place. I know you'll find a lot of the answers you are looking for.
Stay close,
