Yesterday was going well initially. I kept busy working in the yard, it was sunny, the kids were playing, everything was great. Then I ran out of potting soil and had to go to Home Depot. On the way back I passed one of our liquor stores and thought "I better already buy our beer now to save hubby a trip after work"...Well, before hubby came home, I had consumed 9 beers. He had brought home more beer, so I drank another 6 beers with him. We had unprotected sex and today is the middle of the month (my most fertile time). I could kick myself!! We can't afford another baby (although we probably could if we quit drinking beer) but I really don't want to get pregnant right now. I will be 38 next month and we already have a large family. I'm so stupid, stupid, stupid!!! Please wish me luck and that I'm not preggers. I guess I will have to wait 2 weeks before I'll know. Arghh!

Oh Wow MN.... that's got to be a very frustrating feeling, but maybe it will kinda of "scare" you back to a place of being more responsible with how much you consume by realizing how big the consequences can be for such a short amount of pleasure. I've had a few scares like that some years ago, but about five years ago I finally took my hubby to the vet and got him neutered (:H ) so I dont have to worry about it anymore! If you're like me, you probably know from past experience of getting pregnant if you had to try to concieve, or if you always got pregnant easily if the right time of the month as your gauge of the likelihood of it. Also, you can call your doctor and tell him/ her what happened, (you can leave out the beer part and just tell them you got carried away in a fit of passion...lol) and ask for the "morning after" pill. It basically is just a high dose of birth control pill that you take for the next two weeks and it will force you to have your period in two weeks and not allow a good environment in there for conception. But you would have to start it today or tomorrow at the latest! Unfortunately, I know about this pill and it works.
If you are sure you are done having children, I highly recommend one of you getting "fixed" b/c this could happen again, except next time you might be 42 or something!

As lame as this might sound now, we are Catholic and don't use b/c other than the non-fertile period method. I would also not be able to use the morning after pill. I'm not at all proud of not observing the 10 commandments when it comes to the drink. So, while we try to adhere to our church's doctrines, I am failing miserably when drink is concerned. So, nothing really makes any sense...At least I haven't had any beer today yet. I feel like such a failure.

Hope everything works out ok for you. I only drink at home now because I had several "encounters" with guys when I went out and got drunk. I am very lucky that I didn't get pregnant or worse during that time.
I just we could all see a few hours into the future sometimes so we could see what the consequences of our actions will be.

Thanks, Guys. Paula, I actually meant the 7 mortal sins (not 10 commandments). It all starts with the greed (greedily desiring and then indulging in the beer), then the gluttony, which is very self-explanatory considering drinking 15 beers a day, lol. Lust, sloth, and wrath come with the territory of being drunk. Envy and pride come the next morning after a binge when I envy everybody that has overcome this evil/drinking and pride by not admitting to others and even myself at times, that I have this terrible problem.... So, you see I have failed miserably, many, many times and I'm just praying that I will be able to stay off the drink just for today....Comment

Bella, I am shocked that my hubby still loves me. I put this man through he!! and back with my drinking. He forgives me every time, which makes me feel even more guilty. He is a wonderful husband and father (and he's from Ireland
).

I hope it works out for you. I actually "got" my 5 year old in a similar way. I had her when I was 39. I also have a 21 and 16 yr old and thought I was done! My 5 year old has turned out to be a big blessing to me and our family. With no doubt, I would be in a much worse place today without her.Comment
