    Day One

Well I just placed my order for one of the supplement packs. I bought the book about six months ago but I never do anything with the information. I've been drinking since I was twelve,my father was an alcholic who quit drinking two years before his death at age 49. I am now 49 and scared. I'm out of shape, run down, depressed and just so worn out from the drinking. I'm also a smoker which I tell everyone is only when I drink. Of course no one really knows how much I drink. I see the looks and the remarks my family makes. Somehow I always justify myself with 1001 excuses. But the sad truth is your not really fun to be around when your breathe stinks of booze and cigarettes. When your slurring your words by 6:00 most nights. My grandaughter is turning one tomorrow and Saturday is her big party and I want to really be present to see it all. One day at a time. One hour at a time. That's all I can hope for. I hope the supplements will help because I have NO willpower. I know if I can't control this I'm going to get very ill. I'm gald 'm part of this commuity I hope I can say sometime down the road that I too stayed AF.
    Thanks,H

Hi Tired, your story sounds very similar to mine, my dad was alcoholic. Drink became
a problem to me when I was in my twenties. It took years before I realised or would
admit I had a problem.I only drank at weekends and it never got out of control until
a few years ago, then I started drinking in the evenings, then came the blackouts the
guilt and remorse. I tried AA but I could'nt cope with the meetings it's a fantastic
organisation but not for me. Then I found this site, I got the book and followed the
programme, and have managed to stay sober now for almost three months. I have
been on holiday for the past 10 days and even managed not to drink at all. I have
managed to do this just by logging onto this site at every opportunity. Believe me
if I can do it so can you, I have grandchildren so I understand how you feel.
You can do it, and yes if you continue drinking you could become ill. Keep coming
back to this site, I do and it's saved my life.
    Very best wishes to you.Paula.

        Hello Tired,

        Welcome.

There are many people here with the same problem that you have (myself included). You will find a lot of support here.

Paula is right, just keep coming back and reading and posting as much as you can. You will gain a lot of strength from being here.

I have been drinking for almost 30 years now. I have tried unsuccessfully to quit on my own many times before. I found this site a week ago and because of all the support here I have managed to stay sober for 7 days now.

I think you will find that you DO have willpower, you just need to reach deep down inside and find it. The supplements and medication will help, but ultimately you need to decide to change your life, and we are all here to help you do this.
