IAD, I love your ancestral music! when I was a wee clove my grandmother took me to traditional pow-wows (not tourist traps). the smells of the fire, the hypnotic rhythm of the drumming, it was quite surreal.

Deep Forest was some french guys who took a recorder into the amazon and recorded pygmies singing and then took it home and mixed it into a very popular album. That was their first album and I haven't heard from them since.
The fact that the songs are real and heartfelt are what makes it so beautiful. The mixer dudes just added some new age sparkle to it but I bet it was beautiful in the first place.
This is a lovely thread Det! I'll go listen to some of the music & come back with some of my fave's.
