Calling All Southerners

I have been reading a book by Jimmy Carter called An Hour Before Daylight: Memories of a Rural Boyhood. It's filled with wonderful detail and stories, and sheds particular light on the socio-economic and political relationships between blacks and whites in 1930s Georgia. Breaks some stereotypes, at least for me as a Northerner who was not around yet in the 1930s, despite all the history I have studied and taught. In fact, I got this book from the library because there was an excerpt from it in my students' textbook, and I wanted to know more.

The book has nothing to do with AL (at least not that I have found yet) but some of you folks from the South might appreciate it. It's a light read for the most part; good for summer.

Interesting CS.......Actually I lived in the South part of my life ( Texas for 10 years ) I have found that people of different races , for the most part, seem to respect each other more down in Dixie than up north. ( I'm an Army Brat....moved around most of my adolescent life ). IAD
