Sarah's Key ~ Tatiana De Rosnay

Illuminating, powerful and haunting are the words that come to mind for me to describe this book. This was the first novel I ever read with the holocaust as the subject matter and it was impactful. I am embarrassed to admit that I had no prior knowledge of the role France played in the roundup of Jewish families in 1942 to send them to their extinction in Auschwitz. The story of Sarah and her family and it's impact on the extended families within the storyline is sad and heartwarming at the same time. My only disappointment with the book was the somewhat predictable happily after after ending. Overall, a very good read.

I read Sarah's Key, it's an excellent book. I have read several holocaust-themed books, and they are always very sobering. Such a sad time in history.

I started a new book last night called The Elephant Keeper...it's the story of a young man hired as a caretaker for an elephant, it's very sweet so far. I hope it has a happy ending, as I am already attached to the Elephant. LOL
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

I haven't seen The Elephant Keeper but I did read Water for Elephants a couple of years ago and remember being quite fond of the leading elephant in that story!! :H
