The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
In general, I stay away from books that are 500+ pages long but when reading "The Forgotten Garden", you become transfixed in this story that begins with a young girl being abandoned on a ship that sails from England to Australia. Nell, the abandoned child, is one of the three main characters of this novel (Eliza and Cassandra are the other 2 main characters) and the story told is about her and her granddaugher's (Cassandra) search for Nell's true identity. There are many twists and turns to the plot which keep the reader interested and captivated as the author develops the story over 3 different time periods between England and Australia. This novel includes mystery and fantasy and I found it to be a delightful read.John

I really enjoyed this book also. The House at Riverton is excellent too. Reminded me so much of the series Downton Abbey. She has a new book coming out soon, and I can't think of the title, but I'll be sure to get it.

So funny you should mention that book. I buy my books second hand and you know how big and colourful that book is. Well I bought two copies over the course of a month forgetting I had one. I finally read it as the first lake house read and found it fun, interesting and engrossing. it's on the shelf for the visitors to enjoy.Tipplerette

Finished reading this a couple of weeks ago. It was very engaging, interesting characters and setting. I am now reading House at Riverton by the same author. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.
