Alco - Maybe you can recommend this book over in the Newbies Nest to those who are having problems sleeping :H

I don't know how you're hanging in there with this book...if I am not completely grabbed by a book a put it aside and move on. Maybe I'm not patient enough!

You're right: I should recommend this book to help people sleep! I should look at it from the bright side: it had helped me sleep through many nights...

Dennis Lehane is pretty awesome though, right? Try the movie versions if his prose drags, maybe? Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone are both great, and Scorcese directed Shutter Island, which is also a Lehane book. And who can resist watching Leonardo DiCaprio go insane? Or do anything, really...

Now on page 640. Getting very interesting... Characters are multi-faceted. hard to get into it initially because there were too many characters. Once I only focused the main characters, it got a lot easier to read. Imagining diCaprio as the main character also helped, so thanks, Stuck!

Finished it. In the end, looking back, it was about the events leading up to the Boston police department strike in 1919. The social unrest at the time, racial tension, political power struggles.... Learned some history along the way. Good read... Just ignore the minor characters since there are too many, but the main story is excellent in retrospect!
